Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
Hello and Welcome everybody
This is going be a PBEM game based off The Yugoslavia Trilogy, Part III: 1991-1995 Scenario
I will be playing as the Yugoslav/Serb Army my Opponent will be playing the Secessionist
just a short Intro about the Yugoslavia wars
The Yugoslav Wars were a series of conflicts that followed the breakup of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. After the death of Josip Broz Tito in 1980, ethnic tensions and economic problems weakened the federation. By the early 1990s, nationalist movements in several republics pushed for independence.

Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
So First things First we as the JNA have to take Vukovar by January 17th We start off at 60% Shock we need the Town to go back up to 80% After January there will be a Cease Fire in Croatia.
We have are Strongest Army here With at least Dozens of Tanks and Mechanized Divisions as well as Self Propelled Artillery we will easily overwhelm the Secessionist

Know lets Show the VSK ( Serbian Army of Krajina )

we do not have are overwhelming advantage here we have Militia and some Infantry as well as some Artillery and Mortars. I'm planning to play Defense/Attack and get as much space as possible before Cease Fire the Mountains will help us in Defense we need to be aggressive but be Cautious as the Secessionist while full of Police/Militia can be a Serious Threat to us

Up north the VSK is in a Better Position we do Have Tanks and Infantry and lots of Artillery Secessionist are not as powerful here but will arrive in numbers since they did Strom my Depots and will get Tanks and Artillery to Rival me but 1991 is not all bad for me Just need to be careful not to push too hard
I would like to Grab the town of Sisak Might be a Pipe dream but we do have to try because after the Cease Fire there is no way I will be going on the Offensive
This is my First AAR so bear with me as I'm not much of a Book Writer or anything like that

Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
So I'm planning a Slow Grinding Thrust To Vukovar you Might think its not a wise plan but at the end of the day Opponent is a Experienced Player and can Ruin my day if I dont Plan ahead
Mean While we are Sending are Tanks too the Border of Croatia are First Plan is too take the City of Slakovci it is in the way and we cant Allow him to Use the City to Halt are Advanceds we Open are Artillery up on the City while the Defenders are still in the City we are slowly starting to Push back Croatia forces
Here in the VSK Area we did not do all that Much we are planning to Drive too the Coast to Split Croatia in Two we did how ever build up a Reserve Force we got 2 new Milita Units going be Junk but I will take whatever Units I can get my hands on

We have Taken the Town of Obrovac after a battle we did not Suffer Huge losses as we Softened the City with Artillery before storming it

Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
Turn 3
we are pulling back to the Sava River are attempted attack but was repulsed after a heavy Artillery Barrage on the town of Sunja.
The reason we are pulling back is because Croatia is too Numerous for the Small VSK Army to handle we have better odds crossing the river to set up Defensive Positions we did Blow the Bridge however this will free up some Infantry too assault Sunja we are gathering numbers too take the city once and for all
We have Taken the town of Slunj after a artillery Barrage supported by Mortars we do have a decent force here with a good number of artillery I'm not too worried about a offensive from the Secessionist as again there made up of Police and Militia they do however have strong Infantry Forces and some Mortars in this area but nothing that he can threating me with

Turn 4
Are Ranks are being Filled with Serb Reservists hopefully soon we can get some punching power with the VSK We do have house rules to Limit where are armies are allowed to move Historically like the VSK can not move to Bosnia and vice versa for the Serb Bosnia's and the JNA. Other than that not much to report this turn we are still moving are units around to begin offensive operations

Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
Turn 5
So I won't report on the VSK Area Since there's not much movement this turn however Near the Croatia border there is tons of activity
we are pushing Up on the town of Slakovci we are bombing the town Daily with Artillery Im sure we will take the city and move on too Vukovar are JNA Mech Brigade is leading the assault of the town
Are Airforce while its Made up of Not very good Soviet Aircraft Like the Mig-29s and Mig-21 It beats the Secessionist air force by a Blow out since they only have old Blip Planes at the start
Mean while up north we are pushing towards Vukovar we are at a shorter Distance too the Fighting for the City but the Secessionist have there strongest units here Im Confident in moving and taking the City before the Cease fire otherwise we will be stuck at 60% Shock the whole rest of the game and we don't want that

Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
Turn 6
there's some action from VSK this turn but nothing to write home about but we will talk about it
We got some good news and Bad News lets Start with the Bad news We tried again after building up are Reserves too take the Town of Sunja with a Artillery and Mortar Barrage and we just could not.
Good news is we Split Croatia in two not a full split however since they can use the Bridge and Sea Ports but know they cant go north and south like that could before.
As for the Croatia Border we are still battling for the town of Slakovci we are Very close to taking the town the Defenders are exhausted and will be pushed out soon again we have loads of tanks and Mech Brigades however we will pay a heavy Price for Vukovar but we have no Choice we must push on

Turn 7 October 5th 1991
So we have Taken the Town of Slakovci Finelly After a Month of Shelling the Town we have taken it we need to Build defenses and wait for a Secessionist Counterattack.
Today there is no Reports in the VSK Area however we did Expand the Split a little more other then that there was not much from the area its not the main Focus at the moment (It will be one day)
Up North we have stopped Advancing we tried to take the town of Tenja but could not Pull it off we did Capture the town of Borovo we are very close to are Main Area of Vukovar are main Prize
but we need to rest before assuming offensive actions

Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
Ah yes, I almost forgot about this area far away down south there are Isolated Secessionist Forces (Trust me the Front lines get me to scratch my head sometimes
)
here I feel powerful, but I am not really While we have overwhelming Artillery and Morter Support we lack real Punching power with are Infantry due to lack of Supplies and not the Mention all the Mountains and Hills we have to deal with. The town sets on the Coast if we take Dubrovnik we will be Golden
it's been hell Pushing here but I do want to clear this area so we can Free Forces to Drive up the Coast or send them to Serbia to shore up Defense once Cease Fire takes Hold (The Area is in Montenegro btw)

Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
I would like to show the Map the Big picture in case anyone is Confused about what is going on and where the fighting is Happening like I said Before it's a Messy Front Line
There is a lot of Hills and mountains it makes attacking very Hard thankfully Mountains are a blessing honestly we can build defenses here because after 1991 to early 1992 we are not going to be moving and attacking Croatia will be rearming and getting stronger.
Plus with the Cease Fire in effect there are talks Of Bosnia leavening Yugoslavia we cant allow that to happened so we will send the JNA to put any halt too that by Arresting anyone who wishes to not be part of are Federal Republic of Yugoslavia
The Units that are not Attached too Serbia Main area is the VSK there made up of Serbs in Croatia there is some JNA Units also but Mostly VSK units we are starting to get more units so we can Begin offensive Actions towards Zadar maybe take the City before UN Peacekeepers arrive
In Serbia we have the Main JNA Forces we have Dozens of Tanks Infantry Artillery ect ect We need to keep the JNA Frash and supplied they are the Main Striking Forces in this war without them we would be hopeless

Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
Turn 8 October 8th 1991
So nothing to much to report this Turn, This Anit ww2 Germen Blitzkrieg game this is Yugoslavia wars Grinding Assaults/Stalemates its going happened just like in real life so if you want fast Paced Crazy germen moves across Russia this is not the AAR for you
anyway Sorry for that Rambling it needs to be said not a lot of People are aware about the Yugoslavia wars it was not fast paced as you think (Besides in 1995 but where not there yet)
So we Continue are assault towards Vukovar honestly, we gained a lot of ground I was surprised Secessionist where not as Dug in as I thought I wish we opened a hole but again this Anit WW2
Up North we are resting as Currently we out ran are supply in this game we need to regain it back before assaults the North is really just going be in a support role for the main Thrust coming from the south since we have more Units down there don't want to Risk running low on health and getting Driven back the Secessionist do have good units in this area but not enough AT but that will change
soon

Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
So I do want to talk about are equipment
So the JNA has loads of tanks from Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact as well as tanks from WW2 in game we start with 2000 Tanks for the Yugoslavia Army as well as the VSK but they don't have a loads of tanks Currently are Stockpiles are looking great for are tanks we have Loads of T-54s T-55s T-72s and M-84s as well as M-47
as for APCs we have the BVP M-60p a Junk Box not a very good thing to use but it has a gun we need everything we can use to take the fight too the Secessionist
so a lot of are Equipment is outdated from WW2 but some of are tanks will get a Modern upgrade one day

Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
We have expanded the Split area but we need more troops to start moving down there and they have not came yet doesn't mean we can't go on the Offensive somewhere Else, but we will hit hard when we can we have 2 months and 3 weeks to get any of our Moves done before Cease Fire (Hopefully the war ends so I can go Home)
so far the Secessionist has not reacted well to any offensive moves or has done any counter attacks very passive I get it in this game Supply goes down fast so I'm Passive too but in 1991 it's are Playground we do the moves and call the shots

Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
So here is are Plan for the JNA and VSK Armies
Under this revised concept, JNA operating from Serbia will not disperse effort in support of VSK positions in Krajina but will instead concentrate overwhelming force along the Danube axis with Vukovar as the primary operational objective. The opening phase will see JNA mass artillery, armor, and mechanized infantry east of the city, establishing fire superiority and systematically reducing defensive strongpoints through sustained bombardment. Rather than conducting broad supporting offensives elsewhere, JNA will commit its main body to a deliberate, grinding advance designed to encircle Vukovar, sever supply routes, and prevent any organized withdrawal.
JNA will first secure key approach routes from the Serbian border, ensuring uninterrupted logistics and reinforcement flow. Engineering units will prepare bridging and river-crossing contingencies while armored brigades probe Croatian defensive lines to identify weak sectors. Once contact is firmly established, JNA will tighten the encirclement, isolating Vukovar from Vinkovci and Osijek, denying Croatian forces the ability to rotate units or resupply effectively. Urban combat elements will then advance block by block under heavy artillery cover, minimizing maneuver exposure while maximizing attritional pressure.
VSK, operating independently in Krajina, will focus on consolidating its own territorial continuity and defensive depth without expecting direct operational coordination from JNA’s Serbian-based formations. While VSK actions may indirectly fix Croatian units in other sectors, JNA’s Serbian command will remain singularly focused on achieving decisive success at Vukovar. The capture of the city will serve both symbolic and operational purposes, securing the Danube corridor and establishing a fortified salient projecting westward into Slavonia.
Following the fall of Vukovar, JNA will reorganize and fortify the newly secured territory, transforming it into a hardened staging ground for subsequent operations deeper into eastern Slavonia. Rather than overextending prematurely, JNA will consolidate gains, repair infrastructure, and prepare for phased offensives aimed at expanding control methodically, ensuring that each advance strengthens logistical stability and defensive resilience before moving further west. other wise we will be stuck playing Defense in Eastern Slavonia

Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
Here we made some good gains in this area we gained at least 10km if I'm not mistaken ( don't take my word for it ) supposedly the guys are not as worn out as the guys in the south still a long road too Vukovar we are bringing in some Inf to help us we kind of need some guys here but not too much since I don't want to wear them down Shuffling troops around the place
In the VSK Area we Managed to do a little Offensive of our own we really want to get some towns in this area doesn't seem to be too many, but we still would like a buffer Zone for later.
I'm feeling good so far about are gains not at a High Cost thankfully just enough to get those gains

Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
we pushed up In and around the Sava River and the nearby towns of Petrinja and Sunja if we can take the towns we will make a push hopefully in January right before the cease fire to take Sisak would make for a very very good Buffer Zone.
he dose seem to try and hold this area for a long time intill he breaks I haven't even see him pull back not that I'm complaining honestly I would do the same If I was fighting for my life.
The Secessionist have it rough for pretty Much the whole game so don't expect to see anything crazy from them might happened some days but no its not back and fourth
we don't have it easy either we have horrible shock thats going to get worst and worst if we dont take the town of Vukovar
we do recover are supplies quite fast so if anyone is about to say something well this is the reason we push hard

Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
Turn 10 October 15th 1991
So nothing changed no fighting on the ground or anything, but a news String caught my eye take a look
Seems that the UN has send are supplies and the Secessionist too rock-bottom dose that change are war plans? not really are goals are still the same but we will be a little careful and keep are eyes on are supplies stockpiles it affects us getting replacements and not so much on units getting supplies, So a tank might not get its supplies from the Inventory wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't a big drop on stuff being produced per turn
so are whole army is in Orange so no offensive action this week this will be are time to recover are heath and get rested for a offensive in Croatia as well as VSK Area
what's getting me Nervous is the General Mobilization as I said last turn we have bad shock, so more Croatian Units means more things to plow through not good they will also start getting tanks and a real Army no Police officers to fight and Milita those will go away one day, we will be almost the same in terms of Strength so yea not good at all.

Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR
Turn 11 October 19th 1991
No reports in Serbia we only gained like 1 hex so not reporting on that we got some action in VSK and some pretty good stuff for us
so here we pulled off a Encirclement off Civil Protection units this is very embarrassing to write this, but we did it bunch of Civilians Encircled
but hey some counters off the board is good for me
so in the south we expanded the Split I really want to wipe him out down there and free up a huge amount of resources but that Anit going happened just too many Secessionist down there its just a fantasy thinking about it if we can take the town of Drnis ill feel pretty happy just stopping there or push a little more before cease fire
Biggest thing as Serbia/Yugoslavia is knowing when to stop and when to push and im doing pretty well with that theres places I want but I know if i cant get it then I stop trying for it no point and wasting are very limited manpower on it
