In the mods, I activate the upcoming iron 4.4 but it only changes the map
I also activate NATO and nothing is activated either

What kind of counters are showing on the iron cross map?Jusepe131 wrote: Mon Feb 26, 2024 4:11 pm In the mods, I activate the upcoming iron 4.4 but it only changes the map
Re: Iron Cross 2D Counter & Map Mod Released
okay... that's it, I just had to deactivate the 3D unit, my mistake...
Is there a possibility of using these counters but with the old map?

Re: Iron Cross 2D Counter & Map Mod Released
It'd involve moving some files. You could go into the game's Bitmaps folders and find all the standard game terrain and resource sprites (mountains, roads, terrain, hills, rivers, fog of war etc.) and then copy them into the Community Mod /Bitmaps folder for the Iron Cross mod thus overwriting and replacing the Iron Cross map with the original game map in the mod.Jusepe131 wrote: Mon Feb 26, 2024 5:09 pm okay... that's it, I just had to deactivate the 3D unit, my mistake...

It'd probably be simpler just to move the units_sprites_nato.png and unit_sprites_nato_zoom.png files from the Iron Cross mod major power counter folders to the corresponding standard game Bitmaps folder thus overwriting and replacing the standard Nato game counters. These would be in the Major_01 through Major_10 folders plus the Minors and Neutrals folders. I'd back the original folders up first just in case something goes awry. Just make copies and name them original Major_01, original Major_02, etc. or something prior to moving the Iron Cross png files into the standard game folders.

You don't need a download link anymore. If you have the latest patch, it's currently in the game under options--->settings--->mods. Then tick the Iron Cross box and hit OK.

Hi ironX
Not sure if you are still actively modding, but if so, are you planning to adapt your mod to upcoming "Strategic Command WWII: War in the Pacific"
Or is anyone else thinking of doing it?
I suppose most counters can be transferred directly from this mod, but the map will probably have to be modified.

Here's a copy of his post on this matter in 2019: copy IronX 'Sorry, but I have no plans to mod these games again.'
I know there is another counter mod planned for WaW and possibly the new WitP in the future. That's all I can say on that matter at this time though.

If you hover your cursor just to the right of "Download the mod here:" in the first post you can see the link address.
Why the OP chose to do it in this deliberately obfuscated way I have no clue.

I don't particularly like gravedigging, but I'm not sure where else to ask something like this, this feels like the most relevant place to ask this question. I find the unit silhouettes used in this mod to be absolutely lovely, were they hand-made? I've been trying to see if I could find something similar but for, well, more vehicles from WW2, but with no luck. So I wanted to ask, were these silhouettes made specifically for this, or are tehy originally from elsewhere, and could anyone point me towards something similiar that potentially has a far greater selection of stuff beyond what's in this set?

They were likely made in an art program by the original poster. He had the talent and shared it as other modders here have done.Darthrafael wrote: Sat May 31, 2025 7:21 pm I don't particularly like gravedigging, but I'm not sure where else to ask something like this, this feels like the most relevant place to ask this question. Re: Iron Cross 2D Counter & Map Mod Released
I absolutely agree that these icons are amazing. Unfortunately, either I did something wrong or the version is incomplete as the USSR doesn't appear to have been updated. I believe this is actually version 4.6 and not 4.7 as I read, somewhere, this was exactly the problem with version 4.6. Also, the inside folder is labeled v4.6 so...pity because these should be the standard icons for the game, yes, they are that good.
I like the map also but think it needs a bit more contrast as can't see difference between forest and marsh and etc., clearly.

Re: Iron Cross 2D Counter & Map Mod Released
Does anyone have a link to the mod without editing the map (just the sprites)? Thanks
I have done it myself by deleting all map files from the mod, which seems to work fine. Anyway if anybody has a working mod already please share it with me.

Re: Iron Cross 2D Counter & Map Mod Released
Can someone perhaps assist? Seems to work for everyone but me. I'm trying to add the latest version to War in the pacific.
I have made the Mods folder extracted the files and added all to the mod folder, but once i load the game, I have nothing under settings.
What am I doing wrong?

Can you share the file structure of where you have placed the Mods folder (and its contents) so we can take a look?marnoerzob08 wrote: Sun Feb 15, 2026 8:59 pm Can someone perhaps assist? Seems to work for everyone but me. I'm trying to add the latest version to War in the pacific.

I found my mistake. As it often is, the error was self-inflicted and the error lies in the details.BillRunacre wrote: Mon Feb 16, 2026 1:16 pmCan you share the file structure of where you have placed the Mods folder (and its contents) so we can take a look?marnoerzob08 wrote: Sun Feb 15, 2026 8:59 pm Can someone perhaps assist? Here a different version. Simply replace both files in the modification’s Bitmaps folder. Alternatively, you can simply delete the two files from the mod folder. They will then be automatically replaced by the files from the main game.kutaycosar wrote: Sat Feb 21, 2026 11:28 pm thank you for mod, it would be awesome if railways were little more visible, is there any mod for that?
