Game/Scenario Advice

Post by Dereck »

The situation:
o Playing with version 1.126a
o My custom scenario is from around 2010/2011

I'm beginning to think that:
o The scenario is using the old 2010/2011 map
o The game itself is using newer AI scripts and causing AI problems with map differences

I've chosen to run 1127b for the exact reasons you state. The new map necessitates updated AI files which won't work with the old map.

I don't comment on 1128 as I am not running it, nor do I plan to run it in my lifetime. Just my choice.

1127b has all of the updates that I needed/wanted, most importantly fixes the 0/0 naval base error. I wish it had been compiled with the larger array sizes for pilots/leaders, but I understand why it wasn't. I know how to deal with it in my scenario and the compromises it forces. WitPAE is still the best wwii Pacific game available. Not perfect, but still the best.

I really like latest 1128.

Pity that most mods (if any) would not work with it, especially not sure about map mods.

Just make another, clean, installation and add 1128 and give it a try.

Hey Saur. Just wanted to say, 1) I've been reading your AARs and various comments for about a year now and man, incredible resource in learning this game. Thank you. 2) I've got a 1128 AI save going on the stock scenario 1 and it's been pretty good so far. I was worried the Japanese were being too timid and not properly supporting their amphib TF's. Turns out they were small diversionary operations and I've got one heck of a fight going in the Coral Sea right now. So at least from a scenario standpoint it's been a good save.

As far as maps go, I'm running the Skacee's RICH INFO MAP / RICH INFO MAP "1942 version" for the stock scenarios and I haven't had any major issues (that are readily apparent anyway). There's an updated "2026" modded map I saw floating out there too(possibly on Jochen's discord?). I have a very cursory knowledge level of the scenario editor, so it may be a mess under the hood and it just hasn't effected me yet. Anyway figured I'd give you some food for thought since I've been keeping an eye on any wonkiness with the map and scenario as well as I play thru this save.
