Try looking in the Sendai area in northeastern Japan. The components of the 2nd division are in the city of Sendai and the adjacent city of Iwaki and some are on board ships.(Task force 124) They won't be the full 2nd Division again until such times as they are all in one location and reunited.

see them now .... thanks ....
RE: Japan Set-up Spreadsheet for AE
I am going to give Japan a try against the AI as a learning experience. I was wondering if there is a post with a save file of Day2 with all of these moves already input. This looks likes 20 hours of input on Day 2 which I would like to avoid if possible.
Thanks in advance.

You do not have to do it all at once but you need to do it. Save frequently. Decide when airframes that you want to research but you don't have to fix all of the factories on the first day. The second or third day will also work fine. Then, since you know what engines that you will need, you can fix those as well. You don't have to turn off ships that you will not need right away, you can wait until the fourth day. You can move the merchant ships the first day to the ports where they will be needed right away, then you can start your CS convoys. You can then do ship conversions when the ships make it to a proper port and are empty.
You may want to expand the LI and the port at Fusan (Korean War Pusan) to increase the Resource demand there to get them there for shipment to the mainland. Increase the ports on Hokkaido and the Honshu for the resource convoys there. As well as the port on Hokkaido for the resource and oil convoys from Sahklin (sp?).
You may also want to expand vehicle factories as well as converting an armaments factory to vehicle production. You might want to slowly expand HI as well. I suggest either the main cities on Honshu which you will defend very heavily, any city on the Home Islands with little to no manpower to have Firestorms. I would also expand the HI in Manchuria and Northern China as well - do so 10 points at a time. If you expand there, you will need to move supplies to Fusan to support these expansions.
You will also need to set your supply demand to support any industrial expansion and/or conversions - it does not make sense to expand it, not have the supply there, then wonder why the expansion is not being done. [8|]

When trying to resize Zuiho's airgroups it won't work despite following the intrusions, is there something else I need to do?

Well, go through the steps again. If it doesn't work, post a picture and exactly what you do.PharaohVirgoCompy wrote: Wed Nov 26, 2025 9:17 pm When trying to resize Zuiho's airgroups it won't work despite following the intrusions, is there something else I need to do?

The carrier and the air unit.
When you have a problem, please post a picture or pictures when you ask a question. Sometimes someone else can see the solution to the problem.

Re: Japan Set-up Spreadsheet for AE
There can be no other air units on the Zuiho. The capacity is limited to 115% of listed capacity, any higher than that and the aircraft can only fly off but not return. You have to disband the aircraft carrier into a port and then reform it into an aircraft carrier task force. The same goes for the CS. Or wait until the next turn and the air unit should resize itself by then.

Re: Japan Set-up Spreadsheet for AE
I have a question regarding Kulls Japan spreadsheet and restricted units. I see that there are a few HQ (col G) LCUs listed as "code 2", i.e., implying the LCU can switch it's own HQ with the expenditure of PP according to the spreadsheet comments. My question is why is the LCU HQ "Western Army" itself listed as a code 2? It's implying to me that the western army hq lcu can switch away from the general defence army? I don't get the code 2 for this unit (and a couple others).
Re: Japan Set-up Spreadsheet for AE
My guess is that Western Command includes islands so the HQ must be able to travel by ship. That does not mean the sub-HQs and units are all unrestricted.

Re: Japan Set-up Spreadsheet for AE
I thought I would post that the latest Beta (at least) might change some of the decisions in the Japan Set Up.
For example, I do not know when this change was made but the connection between Kyushu and Honshu is severed between hex 104,58 and Shimonoseki the latest beta. This divides Japan into 4 separate micro economies. In the latest beta (at least) Kyushu has an excess of resources to light and heavy industry of 21,600 resource points per turn. Honshu has a deficit of 109,400 per turn. This has some ramifications on setting up convoys and excess will accumulate at Nagasaki.
Certainly small convoys can be set up to transfer excess to Honshu.
Likewise, at some revision China is further divided into sub-regions by blocking the bridges at Pengpu. The Allied scripts have changed a bit because Foochow is now Chinese and units come from "nowhere" to attack Amoy.
Just a a thought, Playing the Allied scripts 4 times to turn 100 I found the new scripts?/code changes? makes Singapore a tougher nut to crack that might be a counter to the early invasion of Port Moresby using the 4th and 33rd divisions. Others might have a different experience with the latest beta, but I found the IJA gets remarkably delayed and attritioned in the Singapore campaign without these forces.

I don't agree with the severing of Kyushu from Honshu. With that much need for communication between them, there would have been railroad and vehicle/personnel ferries running continuously - in effect a bridge. Perhaps it could be shown as a secondary road to slow the flow a bit, but the flow should be there.

Re: Japan Set-up Spreadsheet for AE
Actually, only Hokkaido is separated from the other 3 main Home Islands. While the direct links for unit movement are removed, this does not hinder the movement of the industrial inputs and outputs. With the bridges out in China, this does make river transportation of units somewhat more important than using the now broken rail lines.

Re: Japan Set-up Spreadsheet for AE
Ok .. this is interesting. I did do a hotkey '5' before posting and found the expected distribution levels of supply (about 10% attrition from Fukuoka to Shimonoseki (then like the champaign glass problem further distribution to areas of need) . Added to that data point I do not see stockpiling of supplies on Kyushu. However, I am observing a stockpile of resources. Over 200k at Nagasaki, and 151K Fukuoka. I would assume that enough stockpiles on Honshu at turn 100 is enough to suppress distribution of resources from Kyushu, and later would meet demands?RangerJoe wrote: Sat Aug 15, 2026 5:03 pm Actually, only Hokkaido is separated from the other 3 main Home Islands. On China, in my limited experience playing the IJ I am beginning to think that some the units directed to capture Chengchow and Loyang might be better redirected to defend Amoy, and capture Foochow and Wenchow. For example, the '5' hotkey shows a 64% supply connection the 3 hexes from Amoy to Foochow. Much more efficient to drop supplies off directly at that port to secure Pucheng as an example. The broken rail lines means to me that the Eastern China area needs to be secured first and then a push toward the LI/HI centers at Loyang.
This also means Haichow, Tsingtao, and Tientsin became more important as supply distribution centers to eventually supply the offensive to take Loyang.

Re: Japan Set-up Spreadsheet for AE
Some of those resources have hopped from Fusan to Tsushima Island to Fukuoka. I think the amount is (per turn) 50X(smallest port size).

Re: Japan Set-up Spreadsheet for AE
I did check just the latest Beta, and using the '5' hotkey with Fusan selected I did not see any distribution of supplies (and presumably resources?) into Tsushima Island. I wonder if the '5' hotkey accounts for the adjacent port rule? (9.3.3.3). I noted no resources in Tsushima Island. I wonder if I triggered to stockpile if that would change the algorithm? (Establish a need .. there is no LI (or HI, or refineries) to demand resources...BBfanboy wrote: Mon Aug 17, 2026 6:04 am Some of those resources have hopped from Fusan to Tsushima Island to Fukuoka. I did find it interesting that through the rail network supplies propagate all the way to Wenchow China (46%). Each broken bridge crossing adds to attrition but it will propagate. I have to look more closely at this ...
This particular posting and discussion might seem to hijack the original thread; however, the context is an evolution of the map and game behaviors since the spreadsheet was posted and updated. The reader (particularly the newbie just starting to play the IJ) might consider these changes when following the strategy documented in the spreadsheet. There have been changes that might affect the original presumptions the spreadsheet was based upon.

Since the spreadsheet was created there were many more updates to the game prior to this latest update.
