I got to sink the Italian BB!

Post by melvi »

Well .. sort off… luckily she was not firing back…( she couldn’t cause she has no guns.. if she had had some … prolly my whole fleet would had gone poof).

Initially I named the file “overkill.jpg”.. I should have changed the name when I finished the mounting of the screenshot…..
My TF had only sunk a tuboat after leaving port full loaded before finding and engaging the “Italian BB”. So they spent almost a full load of ammo to not sink the Italian ship. A pity cause there were many juicy targets in the surroundings.
One would had thought that 216 gun hits ( none of them reported as AA guns at least) on a merchant should have been enough to sink it…. What a waste of ammo. My ships could have close in to finish it with a torp… but they left with torps left and Italian ship alive.

That is a cargo vessel, not a battleship. At that time, it was probably unarmed.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing! :o

sigh.. i was trying to be ironic there. I DO know it is not a battleship and that it was an unarmed merchant. but almost performed as battleship standing that kind of punishment without sinking. I even went to check if the ship had some kind of deck, belt armor.

There were lots of fires and lots of structural and engine damage but it does not appear that there were lots of holes in the hull. Which is where torpedoes work nicely. But again, maybe the ship should have surrendered!?

One of the developers said that you can capture single or small task forces of unarmed ships but it got turned “off” in development and will be fixed in the next patch

“Today's review on ship capture at sea revealed it was turned off several years ago on command of the "then" game designer. I asked Piteas, our current WIS game designer, if I was allowed to bring the code back to function for WIS. And Piteas allowed it. So the next patch will see ship captures at sea.
Sorry about the confusion, I totally forgot the capture thing was taken offline at the beginning of the WIS project. My own code comment remembered me about the order to take it out just today as I found it.”
