Sub War
Nothing to report.
5 Fleet
Nothing to report.
4 Fleet
As I said above, I decided not to attack the really beat up 3 Marine Raider Battalion. I was curious to see what happened there. Here's the message I got:
3rd Marine Raider Battalion Wiped Out at Canton Island by attrition!!!
Banzai!!! An elite battalion was wiped out by a small SNLF company!
SE Fleet
Ted split his bombers between Milne Bay and Salamaua. In both cases, he's hitting the troops which isn't doing much. When he took Milne Bay and Buna, both bases were trashed from his bombing. I think he's trying to get Salamaua with the base intact. At any rate, units crawl in PNG so it'll be awhile before some enemy ground troops arrive there. I'm resting and rebuilding my fighters/FBs and will ambush him again soon.
SRA
The night bombing of Darwin added a little airfield damage and killed 2 bombers and damaged 2 more.
Burma
Things have been pretty quiet here. I think Ted is low on bombers and he's reluctant to use his fighters. At any rate, not much has been happening in the air. I'm building up a few critical airfields and when a couple of them reach level 4, I'll start my bombing campaign. Until then, I'm just flying CAP over my critical locations and going after what's left of the large enemy army that was at Shwebo. I'm reinforcing the front line just east of Cox's Bazaar and will attack once they arrive. They're marching up the coast so it will be awhile.
China
The Chinese Air Force is about gone. I see just a few SB-IIIs at Kunming which are being killed off by Zero LRCAPs there daily. There's nothing else I can see other than a grounded fighter up north at Hami that I'll destroy when I take the place. There were some bombers at Chungking, but they're either destroyed or they fled. I suspect they're at Chengtu. My bombers are keeping the airfields at Chungking and Kweiyang damaged. They're currently at 65 and 42 respectively so no more forts are being built.
There are a LOT of Chinese all over the place. I was pushing up to Kweiyang, got there and softened up the place. Then a HUGE army showed up. There are 180k troops there. Another 118k are surrounded at Changsha. Some 240k are at Sian and 165k at Chungking. It's crazy. I'm slowly shifting my troops around to push north from Kweiyang into the Chungking plains. I need to pull a couple infantry divisions and the heavy arty out of Manchukuo to speed up the liberation of China. My problem is that I'm too spread out. I'm fixing that but it'll be awhile.
Other Stuff
The Ha-45 engine R&D advanced to 9/42. It will become operational on 8/18/42. At that time there will be 6 factories of 80, 40 & 4x30. I will increase their size to 90 & 5x60, or 390 engines per month or 13 per day. I'm debating whether to increase each of the factories by a further 30 to a total of 570 per month or 29 per day. I'll make that decision after the first expansion is complete. I'll probably wait to see how the Frank and George R&D pans out.

I wonder if he pulled some/most of the elements out. If you didn't attack, that would fit the result here. Any evidence for or against this? You didn't have NavSearch for this area, correct? (You didn't see the landing force on the way in IIRC) ....Mike Solli wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 5:55 am 1 Aug 42

1. you know you will ABSOLUTELY use them at that run rate at some time in '43.
2. They will help you advance RnD on several key air frames before then. I'm thinking Mr. Frank specifically.

I did not have any naval search, so I didn't see them arrive. But, the 6 APDs disappeared after they dropped the Marines off. When they landed and shock attacked, this showed up: Attacker: shock(+), leaders(-), disruption(-), supply(-)PaxMondo wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 9:30 pmI wonder if he pulled some/most of the elements out. The 6 APDs had a capacity of 1080 troops and the 3 Marine Raider Battalion at full strength is 1029 troops. That leaves space for 51 supply. I'll bet they had no supply left after the shock attack. It's possible that he didn't land the entire battalion and the shock attack really trashed them. Maybe he flew some out by FB. No clue. All I know is that the defense was a resounding success.

Re: Never Thought I'd Start Another One - tc464 (A) vs. Mike (J)
Yep, that was a typo. 19 per day. Yes, they'll help accelerate the Frank, George 1 & 2 and the Grace. I have 42 factories allocated to them (18, 18 & 6 respectively). You're right, I'll need a LOT of that engine. I plan on producing 300-360 of each fighter and 60 Grace. But, with 42 factories, that's 42 engines a day used whether for acceleration or production. Eventually, that'll decrease by 18 per day when I get to the George 5 and by 4 per day when the Grace enters production. That'll mean a need for ~14 a day for the Frank and Grace or about 420 per month.PaxMondo wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 9:34 pmI think typo here .... you meant 19/day. That's all a lot of supply use. I'm trying to increase total supply by 100k per month and I'm doing that now. We'll see what happens when all these factory increases happen. (Increasing total supply by 100k per month will give me 5.7 million supply by Dec 44.)

That's always the rub, you want to save supply, but dang if you don't need to spend it too!!!Mike Solli wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 5:38 am That's all a lot of supply use. I thought about this some more and doodled a bit in a Scen1 sandbox. Those last 3 attack modifiers, yeah, I think on further reflection that you're right, outta supply and that unit was written off. Worse, either he didn't assign a good leader OR that leader died on landing AND the unit took a LOT of damage during the amphib phase (did your combat reporter show much?) to really disrupt it. Yeah, he got a lot of bad rolls and lost a high EXP unit .... ouch for him. Yeay for you!!!!!Mike Solli wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 5:25 am
