Anyone still playing WITW?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Anyone still playing WITW?

Post by DTomato »

WITW is my favorite Grigsby game. It offers enormous depth, while being much more playable that WITE 2 and WITP:AE.

But it seems to be languishing. It's hard to find PBEM opponents. How many of you are still playing WITW?

I am relearning it after 8 years away. testing use of AI for advice, but a lot of the time AI gives incorrect answers.

Still playing it. While the engine and GUI improvements in WitE2 make it really hard to go back, the system is so deep that the scale of WitE scenarios is just too much for me — unless I leave a lot to the AI. It is a much more manageable game overall, with varied scenarios that I love diving into. An updated version would be an instant purchase for me.

I had same issues going back from WitE2.An updated version would be great, but not going to happen and no further patches.

I played West Wall as the Allies about 4 weeks ago. Lot's of fun. The CR is not as good as WITE-2, but good enough.

Well I booted up a scenario for the first time since around Covid. I seem to have forgotten a lot more then remember.
