Is War in Spain a finished product or early access?

War in Spain 1936-39 is the first in a new wargame series, using a new Land-Sea-Air engine inspired by War in the Pacific - Admiral’s Edition. Gameplay and realism are improved by TRUE AI and a detailed Logistics systems. A hyper detailed OOB reaches down to battalion and company level. A beautiful, hand drawn, 5 nautical mile per hex map massively increases player immersion.

Is War in Spain a finished product or early access?

Post by Turbo624 »

I'm interested in buying the product, but the lack of a manual and 7+ pages of issues in the Techincal support section is really giving me cause for concern. If this was on Steam, I would be less concerned as I could try the game out, see if it ran well, and if not refund it.

Who stated that there is no manual?

As far as the amount of Technical support given, I would consider that a good thing. Some of the posts are duplicates . . .

It is pretty much finished. Some noted issues with the manual not being precise enough, though so far it was alright for me. Its a pretty unique game (even though it looks like War in the Pacific) and the only one of its kind, next to Ageods Espana 1936 which is a decent game but has nowhere near the scale and depth of War in Spain. It's a pretty good experience and a very deep game. It's a whole different experience from say War in the Pacific and War in the East which are all "normal" wars so to speak, while here you have adhoc units, a mixture of biplanes and modern planes and are in a sort of limbo between the first and second world war. Next to convoy raiding with whatever gunboat you have (or sub).

I'm coming over from AE, I will say it is a good game. It is not the AE engine. Though it does look like it. The support has been good from various representatives. On top of it yet another game update has happened. I'm just getting my hands dirty with War in Spain, so far it is fun. I do expect more in the future. As I had said earlier it is a new game engine and they are updating it. I can recommend War in Spain.

I'm planning to buy WIS but waiting until I'm confident more unknown unknowns have been discovered and support requests decline.

This game was released prematurely well before meaningful testing was complete. As one example, no dev/tester ran into the problem of the game crashing after clicking on Seville? Really? What else is there?

That said, support after reporting errors seems exceptional and something other teams could learn from. I'm waiting though until that exceptional support isn't required as much as it has been.

Prime time soon but not now.

The last update was a bit of a letdown.

I recommend waiting.
