Full screen?

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

Full screen?

Post by Emp_Palpatine »

Hey,

I know this is an oldy and close to nobody lurks here, but hey... let's try it.

Did anyone managed to have this run in full screen res under 1920x1080? Or using tools like dxwnd perhaps?

Thanks in advance! :D

Hey there, Emp_Palpatine!

I am probably one of the few people who checks out the older games from time to time. But I wanted to show you that the forum for this incredible game is not dead!

I have tried to make this work in true 1920x1080, but have not been able to figure if there is a way of doing so. I don't mind running it with black borders on the right and left of the scaled down screen. I'm just very grateful that it runs at all on my Windows 11 machine. That doesn't mean I won't keep researching ways that may have been found to run it the way you'd like it to run. If I find anything I'll be sure to send you a note and let you know. :D

My very late contribution: I'm playing this classic game on new hardware (Windows 11) which, in my case, automatically defaults to widescreen mode on my TV/monitor. But I had the opposite problem -- I actually prefer the original aspect ratio, which keeps good crisp text, and I had to find a way to get it back.

My fix (to return it to the original aspect ratio) was to instruct my computer graphics card to 'center' the image on my widescreen TV. I have an AMD card, and the centering function is found under GPU Scaling. Other graphics cards may have different means of doing it, so here's a link that might help :

If you want the game in full widescreen on your hardware, but you're not getting it, you might be able to fix it by adjusting your graphics card as well.

Hope this helps!
