Witp tracker problems
Since its not a game problem I post this here
I have played the game for like 5-10 years now, and have had basically no problem with witp tracker all this time
However I now got this problem, has anyone encountered it before?
"AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: C:\Users\kentg\Downloads\WitP\WitPTracker AE Release 1.11\pwsdll7.dll: Otillräckligt med ledigt minne för att utföra detta kommando
Last line says, not enough free memory to perform this command, which is to read a file from my PBEM partner
Any ideas, there is plenty of free memory on the PC and have done this hundreds of times without problems before

You may be trying to load too many turns.

Shut down your computer (or laptop).
Unplug it.
Push and hold the power button for 30 seconds
Plug in
Push the power button to turn on.
This MAY work to clear your CMOS battery cache

Doesn't really matter how much computer memory you have, Java has a fixed size to use set up by you at the start of the game using this exe command line switches. E.g. -Xms512m -Xmx768m. You can change the size but I don't know my how much but once full it cannot be exceeded. You know when it's getting full as the time to load takes a long time.
What you periodically have to do is deleted the database and reinitalise. If, like me, you keep a few turns as back up these can be multi-read so you have some continuity.
Re: Witp tracker problems
You probably have to many saves. Delete all of the db files. That should fix the issue. If it doesn't fix the problem, post your problem in the tracker thread and, i can't think of his name at the moment, someone else will help you....GP

Re: Witp tracker problems
I wouldn't delete the save if you have hard drive space, just move them to another folder. Then you can bring in as many as you want or need to see.

You haven't said what version of AE you are running, but there is a comment in the first post from the developer about using a different .dll

Re: Witp tracker problems
You mean I have imported to many saves into Witp? Making the DB to large?

Re: Witp tracker problems
I deleted the whole thing and started over, I assume the consensus was that after loading x amount of data into the Witp db, it wasnt possible to add more due to Java limits.
Re: Witp tracker problems
Yes, other people have reported that problem.Gratch1111 wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 9:39 pmYou mean I have imported to many saves into Witp? Making the DB to large?
When you find tracker slowing down to load, you can remove some of the older saves and try it again to see if it goes faster. Then just keep track of how many saves there are before it slows down and stick to that number of saves or fewer.

Re: Witp tracker problems
You learn something every day. Thanks Joe, did not know you could do that but not brave enough to try it on by current game.
For all, if you click File then Datebase Maintenance you get this.

Re: Witp tracker problems
It may not reduce the size enough. Poor initial design of the program led to this situation. The new version I'm working on will work differently.
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

What I have done for years is simple:RangerJoe wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 10:17 pmYes, other people have reported that problem.Gratch1111 wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 9:39 pmYou mean I have imported to many saves into Witp? Making the DB to large?

My game/my mod, I can get about 100 turns loaded. So, every 100 turns I save it, label and start a new one. In the "new" db I load turns 1, 50, and 100, and the load every day until turn 200.
Repeat until game end. I have this for games of over 1500 turns. Yep, end up with a lotta db's, but I don't lose any data. While I can't see the entire dataset in tracker, I download to csv's and then load up into Excel ... not elegant, but it works.

Re: Witp tracker problems
I tried something similar but after a while I decided that I don'r really need to do it, I never ever went back and looked at the old.PaxMondo wrote: Sat Apr 04, 2026 1:44 am What I have done for years is simple:

Understood, but I've been developing an AI mod and I need history, lotta history, to be able to tweak and mostly expand the scripts. I haven't invented anything, that's all Andy Mac, but with hints he has given me and testing, I can copy/paste with the best of them.Chris21wen wrote: Sat Apr 04, 2026 6:32 am I tried something similar but after a while I decided that I don'r really need to do it, I never ever went back and looked at the old.

Just don't eat the paste unless you freshly made it with flour and water . . .PaxMondo wrote: Sat Apr 04, 2026 12:49 pmUnderstood, but I've been developing an AI mod and I need history, lotta history, to be able to tweak and mostly expand the scripts. I would like to get back to playing WITP:AE but I have been having some computer issues and doing play testing for WIS.
