Removing Soviets

Does anyone have any experience completely removing the soviets from the game database?

Just wondering what the effect might be. Designing my scenario to be played against AI Japan.

I would not advise it. I haven't done this, nor do I know anyone who has. The issue would be that there are a number of hardcoded events written and if there are no units, not sure what would happen. Maybe nothing, maybe crash, maybe random error. In any event not having the code to inspect, you can't know, so your mod would have a HUGE built in instability. Who would want to invest 3 years into a game to have it hard crash? Or even start a game that will last for years knowing that it could crash?

My thoughts about it also, just wondering if anyone had done it and what the results had been. Easier than me trying and failing in the end.

You can, but dont mess with the HQs, check the AI and the OOB first and yes they are highly experience and not accurate though. Most of them been hauled off from Germany to that locations, but that take time. Who ever did this dumped almost all of it during that time periods.

Some units got some experience in combat, but not much. They had it really high numbers there (grand campaign).
