Tutorial Video #1

War in Spain 1936-39 is the first in a new wargame series, using a new Land-Sea-Air engine inspired by War in the Pacific - Admiral’s Edition. Gameplay and realism are improved by TRUE AI and a detailed Logistics systems. A hyper detailed OOB reaches down to battalion and company level. A beautiful, hand drawn, 5 nautical mile per hex map massively increases player immersion.

Yeah, this is not a new video. This was made right after the game was released. The person that made the video was obviously doing their best to help users get started, however, he did not fully understand all of the settings. Some of the settings don't even match the manual.

The graphical user interface (GUI) is quirky and it has defeated me. The GUI is in horrible shape. The whole thing needs to be redesigned with a professional design up to modern 2026 standards. I know the developers are doing the best they can, but they have come up way short.

I am shocked that Matrix Games has allowed this flagship game (developers have stated that this is the first of several games to be released) to be released in such a condition. Matrix should provide their own developers to create a modern GUI and stop relying on amateurs to do the job!

The person who did this .exe is someone who wanted to have the game look like WITP:AE and have an easy transition for players of WITP:AE.

An easy transition into 2009 when AE was released?

He has a point here. I was very surprised at the lack of promotion from Matrix before release. Even on release day, the game was initially buried on some other page and not even on the first page of Matrix's store until later. Then yesterday, Matrix pings everyone on discord about a "new" tutorial video that was released back in January. While I love the game, I think Matrix REALLY let the devs down in terms of their marketing thus far. Nearly all of the help to learn the game has come from the community. Ranger Joe is doing a tutorial AAR which I'm very anxious to see him complete as I really don't know how experienced players play the game yet and I just haven't the time to dig into some of the other AARs (including RJ's other, more comprehensive GC AAR) that are far longer and time consuming. I can't for the life of me understand why Matrix hasn't commissioned an official tutorial (not the one on the game launcher, which is NOT very thorough) as I'm sure there are plenty of guys willing to do it for nothing. In fact, IIRC RJ offered to do as much but his offer wasn't taken. If this is indeed the "flagship" of an entire group of new games coming, you sure can't tell if from Matrix's support thus far.

There may be a tutorial type of paper coming, I am in discussions on that. If players need to know how to do something, they can ask on my first AAR. I will not do a video but a written one with pictures just like my AAR.

If you want to do so, you can copy what I have written and save the pictures and include in a paper for your own use.
