Turn 18. July/August 1942. Allied #1. Impulse Planning.

Western Allies
Actions: USA –combine, CW –naval, France –naval

Atlantic
1. Review & update CP lines to ensure full production (CW, USA), full trade shipment, min oil used in production & additional CW oil saved to the UK.
2. Assess German U-boat & Italian Sub threat & risk.
3. Using CW surface & air, USA air, French surface allocated resources (i.e., allocated after other higher priority allocations), optimize CP escort & patrol vs assessed threat & risk.

Pacific
4. US planners present a bold plan to exploit Japanese weakness in the South China Sea, which has a near certainty chance of taking back the Balikpapan, NEI Oil and an estimated 50% chance of also taking back the Tarkan, NEI Oil from Japan.
5. The 50% chance of taking Tarkan is dependent on the US being able to sink/abort all 4 IJN CPs currently operating in the South China Sea.
6. The US planned South China Sea operation will further cripple Japan by multiplying their oil shortage & that impact on their oil consuming units.
7. This operation will require a combine (by the US), which in the short term will (may) leave some Pacific CP supply/shipment lines vulnerable to 3 IJN I-boat Gps.

Med
8. The Western Allies will establish an invasion force in the Italian Coast that will threaten both Sicily and southern (mainland) Italy.
9. The Western Allies (currently) plan to establish and reinforce a beachhead on Sicily; however, by threatening southern Italy, the Western Allies hope to trigger a Germany and Italian response (i.e., rail, land & air moves) that dilute Germany’s rail, land & possibly air resources on the Eastern Front.
10. The allies also need to establish supply through the Italian Coast & place naval to maintain that supply, in addition to through the West & East Med.
11. Also, the allies are now working for complete control of all three Med Sea areas (West, East & Italian Coast).
12. North African & Corsica (mop up) land operations will have to waiting for later in the turn when the Western Allies have the necessary land move & land combat actions available.

Turn 18. July/August 1942. Allied #1. Impulse Planning.

USSR – land
1. Eastern Front now divided into Northern & Southern Eastern Fronts
2. Northern Front, commanded by Koniev has the requirement to defend such that he still holds Leningrad, Novgorod, Smolensk, Gommel at the end of turn and he loses 1 & ½ times, or less, than Germany does in combat operations against his front.
3. Southern Front, commanded by Vatutin w/deputy commander Tmoshenko has the requirement to defend such that they still hold Stalino, Kharkov, Kursk & the Crimea at the end of the turn and lose 1 & ½ times, or less, than Germany does in combat operations against their front.
4. The Southern Front can accomplish their city hold requirements by defending & holding the Dnieper River line – well, that’s the plan/hope at least.
5. This front also has the requirement of successfully rail 4 blue factories (Dnepropetrovsk, Kursk, Kharkov & Stalino) east & out of harms way by the end of the turn.

Active WAR.
01-AL-WAR-USSR.png
01-AL-WAR-USSR.png (18.97 KiB) Viewed 527 times
CCP – land
1. Mao has a very aggressive plan to extend his Eastern FLOT facing Yamashita south towards Ankang.
2. His objective is to prevent forces of Yamamoto’s Army Gp with linking up (i.e., getting supply) with Yamashita through the Ankang sector.
3. This aggressive plan is conflict Japan’s action need (i.e., land) against Mao vs the action need (i.e., combine or naval) vs the US & CW in the Pacific.
