CFNA 40-43 Quattara depression? It's all playable.

How can there be a hold off at El Alamein if the Axis can just go around it?

I should've looked at this before starting the scenario. Either it's wrong, or all my history books and other games are wrong.

The Axis will be at the end of their improved road supply tether (with supply units) at El Alamein. Trying to go around the QD in the sand (without supply units) is waaay beyond it. And there are choke points in the dunes the CW can block. Try it and see. The map is based upon topo maps (I once listed them if I remember).

Here are those topo maps I used (and note that I had use of the SPI CNA map). This info is contained in the scenario document:
