The Home Guard needs to be upgraded to 2-3 Core vs Garrisons to stop the exploit that allows Germany to easily take out London. This is silly that Germany can Take out France in Early February-March and then invade England with little Effort 2- paratroops and an Army and HQ cant be stopped by a few 6 Point Garrisons. Followed up with Armor and more units as the British Navy is destroyed by German Airpower.

This destroys this game so do something About it. Even with the BEF returning to England they are no match for the Germans this Early in the Game...

Germany should not be able to Attack France prior to March 1940. This super unrealistic can makes this game unplayable against this exploit. There needs to be a big penalty for an Early Attack on France.

Is this something from your experience of playing the AI, or playing PBEM?

Many Axis players operate or force march their tanks to the Belgium border on T1. Taking Poland is a secondary consideration.

Belgium can be taken out in October and France invaded in November. It's rare for France to fall before April though - unless France goes with a forward defence. And there is a large mobilisation penalty for both Russia & the USA if there is an early Sea Lion. I've not seen it attempted for a long time.

The UK has loads of assets on the board. You just need to get them in theatre asap. There is nothing stopping the UK building AA guns early on which should stop the paras and protect your Navy. The Malta AA gun is also available.

If the Germans take a port you can use your BBs, CVs, Strat Bomber & Tac Bombers to destroy the port thus preventing reinforcements. Germany doesn't start with Long Range Tech so you know how far their bombers can reach. Stay out of range if you can.

I was playing PBEM versus a very good player... They attack England before France even falls using invasion and the 2 Airborne Units. This is almost impossible to stop. England should not be this easy to invade. This would force the Brits to pull back the BEF to England before they should. Even then They can't stop the Germans they are no match for them this early on.

P.S. The Yugoslavia Event is happing in March 1941 not February 1941 this is a big screw you to the Axis. The Decision Events clearly state that February 1941 is the Event Date. Your manuals need to be updated.

Where can I find good notes on program changes that are not in the Manuals? :geek:

Thanks!

Just to clarify: the Strategy Guide says "from the 24th February" rather than "on" the 24th February. This was an intentional change introduced so that the Axis player cannot foretell with 100% accuracy when the coup might take place.

it's really not so hard to stop.

Several things you can do:

1) build 1-2 Anti Air units in 1939 and put them in London and Porthsmouth, then bring the garrisons from Ireland and Belgian Congo to UK for Manchester and the city in Wales (Cardiff?). Suddenly, this attack will not seem so strong anymore.
2) keep submarines or naval units in ports so that even if they take a city in England, they can't bring in new units.
3) keep your navy in the English Channel to intercept the paratroopers and do a lot of damage to them. It will also neutralize the bombers a little.
4) make sure your units are entrenching (aka don't move them around). Without heavy bombers support, 2 paratroopers can't take London from a lvl6 entrenched garrison.

the attack also mobilizes USSR and US quite a lot, so it's not even always good if they don't do a lot of damage against the UK and basically take the whole island. I think most good players no longer do such an early Sealion attack because it's very easy to spot (just scout the coast for paratroopers) especially now that it takes longer for paratroopers to prepare to jump.
