What will be the next game?

What will be the next game?
I absolutely love that this is a new game concept engine with unbelievable potential to create a sundry of games. So when War in Spain achieves it's goals. What are some of there other games that are being considered to put into development?
I personally want the World at War. The entire WWII experience From 1931
with the invasion of Manchuria.

I think a 5 nm hex of the entire globe, and simulation of WW2 down to the company and barge level would be pretty ambitious!CSSS wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 9:42 pm I absolutely love that this is a new game concept engine with unbelievable potential to create a sundry of games. Re: What will be the next game?
We've got 52 titles on the list. One down, 51 to go. What would you like to see ?? The whole war from 1931-1945 might be a bit too ambitious. But global war at 40nm/hex seems theoretically possible.

Re: What will be the next game?
`1. War in the Med: Some challenges in putting this together and shaping the strategy, it's not easy. But I think this would also bring over alot of WITP-AE players.
2. Russo Japanese War
3. I know some will also ask about WITP-AE -2, but I know this group does not own the title or source code for that one. Still, it would be interesting to move this land model, and some other interesting updates (Coal as Fuel for example) to that theater and timeline

Re: What will be the next game?
Totally agree with Q-Ball - War in the Med would be one of a kind. However, if possible, it would be interesting to stretch the map to Iraq/Iran/Syria/Dodecanese Islands to simulate all the distractions that Middle East Command had. Maybe there could be smaller scenarios like invasion of Greece or of Italy.
Would you look at smaller sideshows of WWII like invasion of Norway or the Soviet invasion of Finland? (admittedly unit scale would have to be in the regiment/brigade scale I guess).
I think that a WWI western front simulation would also fit this game setup.

Re: What will be the next game?
Definitely World War II.
Ideally, a complete map with all theaters of operation and land, sea, and air units.
And more modern graphics

Re: What will be the next game?
Yes! The whole of WWII!
Re: What will be the next game?
With 5 nm hexes, the game engine would seem to be a really good fit for the Danish/Norwegian campaign of WW2. The land/air/sea aspects of this campaign are difficult to simulate with other games. I remember trying a simulation of this campaign using the Operational Art of War, but there were a lot of problems with the air and naval aspects. The big drawback of this campaign is being limited to only about 60 turns (2 months). I guess it could be extended some with an alternate reality in which the Battle of France is delayed and additional Allied units can reinforce Norway.
Re: What will be the next game?
I also thought of a Norway Campaign, but you hit on the problem: It's very short.rmeckman wrote: Thu Apr 16, 2026 1:35 am With 5 nm hexes, the game engine would seem to be a really good fit for the Danish/Norwegian campaign of WW2. Otherwise it has alot of the Naval, Air, and other aspects that would make it interesting
Re: What will be the next game?
40 km hexes would work in the global aspects. With sparsely occupied areas double that to 80km per hex. Take a look at Total Victory game to get an idea on the concept.
Re: What will be the next game?
I'd like to see all the campaigns from 11/40- fall of France.
The Russo-Finnish war would probably need a lot of thought about victory conditions.
The Norway campaign ought to have some alternate scenarios or reasonable flexibility for the Allies to react a little better.

Re: What will be the next game?
Use War In Spain as the starting point and use it to "add DLC" by opening up fronts that cover different nations and places around the world.
1936 hits the sweet spot of action and history for the start of world war 2 without indulging in a more in-depth logistical/industrial/political focus that 1935 or earlier would generate.
You could also make the "DLC" standalone so that people who didnt want to "invest" in WiS and everything else could play, say, the Norwegian campaign only.
Ethiopia vs Italy, China vs Japan, etc... and the ultimate goal being a full world war 2 simulation.

Aren't many people waiting for “War in the Mediterranean”?
Unfortunately, neither PBEM nor forum posts seem to be gaining much traction in game about the Spanish Civil War.

Re: What will be the next game?
This game may be more of an interest in Spain itself. But it is a good choice to introduce the game system and program.ham17 wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2026 10:53 am Aren't many people waiting for “War in the Mediterranean”?

Re: What will be the next game?
I, probably like many non-Spanish players, had only a general outline of the Spanish Civil War before playing this game. The conflict actually has several aspects that make for a different wargaming experience. Instead of one country attacking another, it involves a single country dissolving into two factions in a rather patchwork fashion. Then you have the mix of professional troops and militias. Air and naval assets are relatively scarce starting out, with a variety of interwar aircraft that make only a cameo appearance in WW2 games. Both sides are reliant on external support.
Overall, I think WIS is a refreshing change with a different set of challenges. It shouldn't be underrated just because it isn't WW2. I, for one, like learning some new stuff rather than redoing the same WW2 campaigns multiple times over.

There really hasn't been a definitive ACW game.....Ageod's Civil War II was pretty good, but had a few holesgekkoguy35 wrote: Wed May 13, 2026 2:39 pm+1000 for thishomer82 wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2026 5:11 am I'll be the contrarian: American Civil War 1861-1865 including all significant battles as scenarios.
I'm not sure this is the engine; you really need an engine that highlights the importance of Leadership, because I think that was a critical component of ACW.
