HQs assigments failures

Post by Taifun »

For the third time during my game with petedalby, my front troops start the turn without an attachment to the HQ. From what I have observed, the computer reassigns different units to my headquarters than the ones I reassigned during my turn. This causes my units to be without attachment to the headquarters when my opponent's turn begins, to be much more vulnerable, and to be easily destroyed. Has anyone else detected this unit reassignment error with their headquarters? I think this was reported before...

Thanks for the report, I'll have to take another look as to why this might be happening

Yes I have reported this a few times. Still doing it, not all the time but often at critical times.
Also some fighter units go from auto to intercept only. Again I have learnt now to check this.

There was an issue where HQs assigned to Automatic could possibly steal in range units from other HQs that were assigned to Manual or Auto-Assist.

I've amended this so that Automatic can only possibly steal from other HQs that are also assigned to Automatic.

Beyond that the only thing I can see from my end is that a unit may end the turn attached to an HQ, but is possibly out of range at that point for proper attachment.

In that case when things are re-calculated, the unit will no longer be attached and indeed start on the enemy's turn unattached.

Could this possibly explain it?

I definitely do not believe it is an out of range issue. I check this thoroughly. I do notice that it often happens when there are multiple attacks on the same unit (unit may retreat but still in range of HQ)

I have not been able to identify any clear pattern. However, I have noticed that units which end their turn adjacent to enemy forces and have taken heavy damage will sometimes appear unattached to any HQ at the start of my next turn, even when they are well within command range. This is particularly frustrating because the units affected are often among the most valuable and important on the battlefield.

Thanks guys and without saved games where I can work with a before and after state to determine what is happening exactly, it is going to be unfortunately very hard to nail down exactly.

Hi Hubert,

I had a practice PBEM++ game against arikogut. During the game, there was a thunderstorm in Houston while I was watching the replay of my opponent's turn, and my computer lost power for a few minutes.

When the power came back and I reconnected to the game, the replay appeared to be stuck on the Axis side. I was playing the Allies, but the game was showing me the Axis side as if it were my turn. I could no longer continue the game normally.

I eventually abandoned/deleted the game because I couldn't continue playing it, and I now need to explain to my opponent what happened. I have a screenshot showing the incorrect date/side that appeared when this happened.

I also tried to locate the local PBEM++ files for this particular game, but I couldn't find them. Could you please explain exactly where the individual PBEM++ game files are stored? Even though I have already deleted the game, I would like to understand where these files are located in case this happens again.

Is it possible that interrupting the PBEM++ replay because of the sudden power loss caused the game to remain in the opponent's replay state instead of returning control to my Allied side?
