GameText file hard coding

Post by RedAss »

Is there a list of lines in the GameText file that are unable to be unmodified (like the airmobile units)?
I know certain units are. Currently trying to change the names of some of the flags so it displays a different name when displayed as choices in the force editor, but it doesn't seem to be working. Trying to figure out if user error or feature.

I had the same problem a few years ago. See post:

Weird how they locked in on hard coding glider tank. I see why it has to have that ability, but it only applies to about a year's worth of a game that covers a couple centuries. Could easily be used as "any armored unit" in any scenario without air transport.

Likewise with the icon set:
We have prop fighter, prop fighter bomber, prop bomber, prop heavy bomber, jet fighter, jet bomber, and jet heavy bomber. However, that basically just means "I can fly". If I took a unit of 60 B-29's and put a jet fighter icon over them, they'd still have the exact same attack, defense and abilities, correct?
