DE 109: Sell the Cotton?

Post by Petisch »

I haven't played many games in this scenario yet, but I've noticed that the Confederate opponents so far always sell cotton to buy units faster.

I get the feeling that the possibility of bringing a European into the war in multiplayer is rather theoretical.

What's your experience been like?

Sorry for the late reply.

Always sell the Cotton.

European intervention is too easily countered by the Union.

All right regarding European intervention, I agree... though it would force Union to counter and to be vigilant on it...

But what about F Spirit loss? It is a good amount of FS points... a very important fact that should be differencial in CSA favour at the long run...

Not really. It always seems to rebound pretty quickly. By 1864 between holding onto Richmond and Nashville and a few other important points its impact on fighting spirit had become a dim memory.

Any suggestion to improve this for my mod?

Actually I think I may have found a bug that this event is not working right. It does not seem that the FS points are being reduced. Talking to the Devs about this...

All I can think of at the moment, is maybe adding events that move the Europeans toward the Confederacy.

As it is in the base game, the Union just needs to discover the Confederate diplomacy to counter it completely. Having events that along with rebel diplomacy can move the Europeans towards the Confederacy will give the rebels a much needed edge in the diplomatic contest.

Victories on the battle field could also be used to move the Europeans, but no idea if that possible to implement in a mod.

The Trent Affair is one event that comes to mind...
