Hi firsteds,
thanks for the new ranking list. I have one correction:
You put my points all right from my game vs. Kashtronomical but I don't see him on the list.

Oops again. The table has been corrected now (see above).

Lots of new players this month - very encouraging.

I have to give a warm welcome to kjgokc2007 to our beloved tournament. We know how the Matrix tournament works: most players on the web only have basic, rudimentary knowledge of the unit movements... This ELO tournament is something else; here, top guns play, players who love this game and who have been here for years, perfecting it and giving their best with the developers to build the wonderful game we have now. Here, no one comes to accuse anyone without proof of cheating. In fact, it doesn't matter if you win or lose; it's all about having a good time. Well, as long as you play with competitive players, you could limit yourself to playing with opponents who pose no challenge and always stay at the top of the leaderboard. That said, it would be fantastic if you invited the veteran players from your group to join our ELO tournament.

I do not agree with putting additional restrictions on our Elo games, especially regarding the defense of France. You should know, and if not, I remind you, that it was only at the last moment that Hitler was convinced by his generals not to attack France in October and November of '39 after the defeat of Poland. In fact, on several occasions he was about to launch the attack before Christmas of '39. There has to be a balance between what can and cannot be done and not putting too many limits or boxing in the game, as that would limit the players in their strategies. I am in favor of the game being, or resembling as much as possible, chess where all opportunities are open with fixed, written rules. I think that with 9 Elo points and capping amphibious transports at four is enough.

Thank you very much firsteds for taking care of the Elo table. I'm sorry I couldn't start the game with you, and I hope that we can play soon. The game against petedalby is being very intense and competitive, and I'm having a hard time on many fronts…

FWIW I agree. I think we have enough ELO rules already.

Good words gents. After a rocky week I’d like to share some thoughts.

First, Kudos to firsted for grabbing the mantle and bringing structure and energy to the ELO. We are nothing without the spirit and efforts of the community. Your efforts are recognized and valued.

We all have roles to play. The impeccable Taifun at the top of Everest keeps us all humble and aware of the mountain we mere mortals must climb. His accomplishments to be respected and his selflessness with time consuming AARs, read and valued by noobs world wide (this one included 🤚), a testament of how he wants to expand the community. (Not to mention it strikes fear in one and all!) pls keep up the good work and tolerate our frustration as we strive for the holy grail. 🙏

Petedalby is the ultimate gentleman, level headed and sober with an eye and focus towards what matters. Keeping things on the tracks. Also he’s a frustrating nightmare with his bloody Navy! 😆

As for wonderkind I beg to differ. I just confuse the heck out of you all cuz I’ve entered a society that hasn’t yet been immunized to a new virus and approach. Trust me, you’ll evolve and adapt and my way will just be one of the many arrows in the quiver.

One thing I’d suggest to the greater group to keep the blood flowing and the group expanding is to play randoms on the PBEM cuz there are folks out there like us that would embrace what this group has to offer, if they only knew it existed. Don’t want to speak for all, but I only stumbled upon this group cuz I knew matrix games for other games. With the advent and growth of steam (and their own boards)

I suspect there are many who aren’t. Let’s all channel our inner missionary and spread the gospel to randoms, many of whom are like us but are lost in the gaming wilderness. Just as I was.

If ur really good at the game u’ll likely crush ur opponent. Know that and use the game as opportunity to experiment, it costs nothing. But get the word out. Share links.

With that I thank you all for the warm welcome and await my next beating at the hands of the gaming gods

Great points made my all,
Yes it is the only game I play, but to keep the wife happy I am restricted to one game at a time. Though if possible I sneak in extra turns Personally I find this game very mentally stimulating and an escape from the worries of the world. Everyone I have played seems a great person and yes we need to promote this ELO game on forums.
Yes I think the rules up are enough and France either way can be counted to various degrees. Having scope to change things is why we all love this game.
Hopefully I will play most of you at some stage as there are a number of players i haven't played yet and hope to. Would like to see Umeu playing more. He is another very talented player, happy to give tips on improving your game.

And silly of me to mention some and not others. Umeu is certainly one I've seen posting generously. In fact, it's his masterful early start in France that I hate myself for liking!

Good luck with the wife. My advice, as someone who has witnessed a relaxation of constraints over time, is to play the long game and avoid any unnecessary frontal assaults against what i am sure is a heavily fortified position!

Usual Elo rules.

ELO ended:
Result: Zarevic (Allies) LOSER v Firsteds (Axis) WINNER.

Excellent played by Firsteds who gave me no options.

Allies surrendered in 1943 after an agonic retirement of UK due to NM =0... Succesful Sea Lion made UK had to fight for survive with everything they had...

Congratulations to Firsteds.
By my side, still looking for a win in this new ELO era...

What are considered to be the "Normal" ELO Rules?

I see several different versions...

Thx!
