Re: New TOAW IV database
Since we're on the topic of modified equipment databases, has anyone ever stripped out the modern and pre-WW2 equipment from the equipment file? Can it be shared?
As a sometime designer it sure would be nice to not scroll thru all the equipment that doesn't apply to the 1930-1940s period.

Re: New TOAW IV database
Stripping out the unneeded equipment is a really good idea. One for pre-WWI, one for Modern, and one specifically for WW2 would be good. I'll get busy and see what I can do.

I suggest having several decades of overlap. Something like 0000 - 1930, 1920 - 1960 and 1950 - Today.
Also, are you sure you have time for this? With all the coding you're doing when will you have time??

Hello im making a Turkish Invasion of Greek Rhodes in 2025 and there are turkish vehicles that arent added to it. What procedure do i need to consider to make mostly realistic equipment values?

Suggest you start your research by looking at the equipment used in the scenario 8.0 Ukraine 2022. It’s available for download on the Mods and Scenario page, 8th one down. Use the values as a guide for your scenario.

You can copy the ratings from the
LVPT7-UWS AAAV
In the equipment database. Very similar vehicles IMO.

Re: New TOAW IV database
Antipersonnel rating should be 51, the sum of 27 for the heavy machine gun and 24 for the grenade launcher. But small variations won't change much, if anything.FellingerXZ wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2025 2:00 pm pretty much thats what i did, i just modified the vehicle ton weight, and increases a little the anti personnel value since its a newer vehicle
Re: New TOAW IV database
I use the toaw equipment editor;
In data 1 page:
First calculate the weapons; the CAKA turret is equiped with a HMG and a autogrenade launcher, so:
HMG: AT=2; AP=27, AA=2
AGL: AT=5(HEAT), AP=24, AA=0
HMG+AGL: AT=5(HEAT), AP=51, AA=2
Then you must calculate the volume, with this formula: Square root(Lenght x Width x Height x 20,4125), so:
volume = Square root (8,3 x 3,3 x 3,8 x 20,4125) = 46,1
Then, to calcuate the DF value, that in armored equipment is it weight, you use this formula DF= weight/0,75, so:
The manufacturer says it weighs 30 tons
DF=30/0,75= 40
To calculate the armor, the manufacturer says that its armor is a STANAG 4569 level 4, so using this rough table (according to the penetrations of the different ammunition).
STANAG 4569------------------caliber------RHA equivalent
level 1-----assault rifle-------5,56---------8-12 mm
level 2-----assault rifle-------7,62---------15-20 mm
level 3-----MMG----------------7,62---------25-30 mm
level 4-----HMG----------------14,5---------50-55 mm
level 5-----automatic gun----25mm-------80-100 mm
level 6-----automatic gun----30mm-------120-150 mm
Its armor would be between 5 and 5,5 cm, you could put 6, but I think that 5 would be more accurate
In data 2 page you select the fast motorized (70Km/h), amphibious and transport checkboxes
In data 3 page, you select the active defender, NBC protection, agile (600 hp for 30 tons;equal or more than 20hp per ton), and optics1 checkboxes
Finaly you select the 2D and 3D icon

Re: New TOAW IV database
Hello. Currently looking for some documentation or help on what the different flags/categories in the equipment editor do mechanically. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd hugely appreciate it.
There's a piece of equipment that I'm creating which functions similar to both armor and infantry, and I'm trying to determine whether it would be best to designate it as armor, infantry, or if it's possible for it to use both flags at the same time.

Re: RE: New TOAW IV database
Can I just say -- albeit late -- thank you so much for the enormous amount of work on this. Also for the maps I've stolen, but mostly for this. Incredible.josant wrote: Sun May 26, 2019 9:41 am I modified the structure of the database to make it compatible with the standard database of the game, now you can load any scenario who comes with the game without any issue.
To make it compatible I made new weapons categories and put the new equipment here.
To install it put the *.nqp, *.eqp and *.png files in the "Graphics Override" folder and load the game, then, when you load a standard scenario, you will get a "wrong equipment file" error message (this is because the database is edited but the structure is the same), simply ignore it.
In the first post you have the link to download this new version called "TOAW IV database v5"

Great minds thinking alike. I can't do this, but I mentioned something like it in another thread. Although the overlap thing is necessary -- often you see conflicts in Africa, Middle East, or South America with the latest infantry equipment but out of date aircraft/armor.rhinobones wrote: Sat Sep 21, 2024 9:05 pmlarryfulkerson wrote: Sat Sep 21, 2024 7:24 pm Stripping out the unneeded equipment is a really good idea. I have British, mostly bi planes in Pearl Harbor, in the 1941 Pacific scenario. Did I install the equipment file wrong? Or is it supposed to be like that?

Re: New TOAW IV database
Is it possible these swordfish and nimrods are being used to represent devastators and vindicators? I still have American planes in Hawaii as well. I didn't have the eqp and nqp copied to the documents/graphics override folder as well as in the game graphics override. But upon doing that I still have the same issue.

Here are what the two inventories should look like for Pearl Harbor 1941:

Maybe we're talking about different scenarios?
