Pre-NATO ICONs v04

Post by rhinobones »

Attached is my Pre-NATO icon set updated to version 4. Some icons are new, others have been cleaned up. Land icons are based on the WWII unit symbols found on the Niehorster web site.

Rhino - the armored glider icon is the same as the pre-NATO flame tank icon?

I'm trying to designate a flame tank battalion and when I used the "glider" icon seeing what would happen it gave it airborne operations abilities.

Pre-NATO icons, I think... http://niehorster.org/000_admin/009_symbols.html

Did I find a "you'll have to live with using the regular armor symbol, not sure how to fix that."
If you're STILL making Panzer IIs after seeing your first T-34... you're probably going to lose.

Per Niehorster.org (which is my preferred source) what Norm identified as airborne glider tanks is used to symbolize flamethrower tanks. On the rare occasions that I’ve needed flamethrower tank units I just go with Niehorster and the glider icon. The airborne capability has no impact in the scenario where they appear.
From what I’ve read on the net the current flamethrower NATO symbol is the armor lozenge with an inverted “J” with arrowhead pointed downward. Haven’t seen a picture, just a written description. If needed, shouldn’t be a big deal for you to make a custom icon set.
FYP. The attached zip contains the latest icon sets and counter numbers. I find the added spacing in the counter numbers makes them a bit easier to read. Note that in the pre-NATO unit icon set a few of the original icons have been hijacked. Use with caution.

I'll go into the GameText and make it say Flamethrower too.

More changes to fit things...
