Unable to Use the port of Masawa

War in Spain 1936-39 is the first in a new wargame series, using a new Land-Sea-Air engine inspired by War in the Pacific - Admiral’s Edition. Gameplay and realism are improved by TRUE AI and a detailed Logistics systems. A hyper detailed OOB reaches down to battalion and company level. A beautiful, hand drawn, 5 nautical mile per hex map massively increases player immersion.

Unable to Use the port of Masawa

Post by Q-Ball »

Another poster commented that they could not fuel the AK Hermes, which starts the campaign in the port of Masawa (in Africa).

I am now obseving that NO SHIPS can refuel at this port. (Yes, there is plenty of fuel and coal). Additionally, when I tried to load a ship with Supplies/Fuel, it did not load. I also cannot unload an air unit into the port

It's like the game does not recognize the port exists

Has anyone else experienced with with Masawa? Curious before I post it in Tech Forum, I think it's a bug

Quick Update on this: Italian Ships, and any ships in an Italian-flagged TF, are able to use the ports at Masawa and Mogadiscu normally.

In the attached example, a Spanish and German ship were each able to refuel at Masawa, because they were in an Italian TF

Spanish and German TFs CANNOT refuel at these ports

I don't know if that's WAD or not, but that's the reality

It is a consequence of the political status. The diplomatic relations, to be precise. A certain amount of co-operation between nations must exist for various actions to be performed. Use of ports, sharing base items between bases, use of airfields, etc.
This looks like the port owner and the ship / TF ( depending on if they are in a TF ) owners do not share enough co-operation to simply "take" items from the port.

I will review this in the SCN data and with the SCN designer.
The only responsible person. (Unless I can frame someone else)

These are remote ports of the Italian Empire. Nat ships did not reach them; their maritime and air supply routes were concentrated in the Mediterranean, the Atlantic, and the Gulf of Cádiz. So It can't be easy for the nats to get there.

Anyone can go to East Africa without italian permission, aka "italian TF" in WiS.
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!

I couldn't believe it.
So I decided to test it.
Specifically the port of Masawa.
And yes, the players are indeed right (sorry for the doubts),

The whole problem is in the nationality settings.
Someone deliberately excluded these ports from the Italian nationality.
And that's why the Nationalist and German ships cannot refuel in these two ports.

Given the lack of Axis fleet ships in general and also the fact that German ships regularly moved around Africa, I would recommend considering and reevaluating this decision.
And also the idea that the Nationalist ships could not sail around Africa is very subjective.
