Shipyard repair question

Post by rockmedic109 »

Given the ship fits in both Repair Shipyards, will a ship in Shipyard Repair mode repair faster at a port with a larger Port Size? For instance, would a ship repair faster at San Francisco than Alameda?

What I've read would indicate it does not. It also seems that the size of the shipyard does not matter except for the bigger shipyards begin able to possibly handle High and Critical priority easier.

Got stuck trying to post and could not see it. Posting again and my apologies if this doubles.

Without looking at any notes or manual, (meaning off the top of my old head) I would agree with you that it doesn't have any influence on repair speed. But let's hope someone who actually knows comes along and sets this right.

Naval support, tenders,
And other factors, such as the size of the port and if there are any shipyards available, all play a roll in repair time and ability....GP

Short answer is; No: Repair yard and Ports are two separate systems and nether help each other. Other import thing is the bigger they are the faster they repair stuff.

Long answer is here, old but still relevant

Indeed.

Alfred's Repair guide is still a definitive one.

I was myself experiencing frustration with BC Repulse in Cape Town, had to send her to US East Coast.

Because she had lost two of her front turrets to air attack. Not easy to repair.

Thank You!

That is what I thought.

Repulse is currently in Cape Town and I had a brief "Oh Crap" moment before checking that it was only major damage.

Turret etc. weapon damage is outright "bar-steward" to repair.

Quite realistic, since e.g. 15" turrets are not exactly easy to shop items...

"Bar Steward" Def:

The term "bar stewards" has two distinct meanings depending on whether it is used as a professional job title or as British slang.
1. Slang Meaning (Minced Oath)In British, Irish, and Australian English, "bar steward" is a common minced oath for the insult "bastard".It is used as a humorous or polite substitute to avoid using the actual swear word in public or polite company.Example: "Oh, you complete bar steward!"

2. Professional Meaning (Hospitality Job)In the hospitality and maritime industries, a bar steward is a formal job title for a staff member who helps run a drinking establishment, lounge, or cruise ship bar.

I needed Google AI to learn me new English slang. Still not sure how this relates to 15" turret repairs? :?

(Does the RN have a bar on site at the shipyard? Been 15 yrs since I had a Pussers Pain Killer)

If you look up the slang for 'bastard' you'll find it means 'very hard to do or achieve' but more like 'having sex' hard :D

There is a type of tool called a bastard file which has very coarse teeth or ridges to chew away surfaces faster (if they are soft enough). That would fit the "hard to achieve" idea. Maybe that is how they are going to repair the turrets on Repulse!

Bastard File. There's a memory. My Dad owned a body shop and I started sanding cars when I was 5. He had quite a few bastard files. He said that he had used to save money, on his cars, when the fan belt would begin slipping by carefully using a bastard file on the belt...while the engine was running! While the nut did not fall far from the tree, I have never tried this.

I had thought that I didn't because I had an adequate number of brain cells, but that could not be the case. When I read Bar Steward my first thought was that it was some kind of phonetic alphabet thing for BS.

It is just funny Brit way to avoid using word "bastard".

And in this context, it means "bastard job"..aka "very hard job". :D 8-)
