And you did download the 32bit java right?

This might help (no guarantee!)

If you read that post, michaelM says if you are having problems with Tracker, to try the new dll. Give it a shot.

Thanks for the leads here; I am now building a better understanding of how Java works. I obviously did not install 32-bit java, as my command prompt indicates still 64-bit installed, and not 32-bit. Will try that later. I assume you can run both 32 and 64 on the same system? Is some sort of pathway needed for each separately?

Hope it works, I am optimistic, I now have 'combat reporter' up and running now, so slowly getting there

Thanks again for all the help

You can have both installed on the same system and differentiate between them by the path. I only have 32 bit installed because tracker is the only thing I use that needs java.

Hey Chris, thanks for the help. I was working all last week, so just getting back at this now. You previously mentioned having a path for the 32-bit x86 version of Java. What does that mean exactly ( I am not the most PC tech savvy )

I think I have both 64 and 32 Bit downloaded. This is what my Java is showing me

The thing I am uncertain of, if I have the 32-bit installed, is how this pathway gets created

Thanks mate for all the help

Just the x86 is the 32bit java. To make it easier, I would delete the 64bit version, thus you only have the one (correct one) to run Tracker with.

Hi everyone,

I am having trouble with WITP Tracker. This is the error I am getting. I think it is saying it cannot find the Java.exe?

Image

This is the directory of my Java files:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin

And here is the target line of my bat file

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xms512m -Xmx768m -jar "WitPTracker.jar" nomap

Any help will be much appreciated!
Thank you.

Your batch file isn't pointing to the java folder. Here's mine

D:\Matrix Games\WitP AE 28\Tracker J>"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_491\bin\Java" -Xms512m -Xmx768m -jar "WitPTracker.jar" nomap

Maybe I need to play around with it a bit. I put what my target was for my batch file, but maybe even after all that it still isn't targeting what I am expecting it to target.

Hello,

This is the error message I get now. Maybe something is wrong with Java 6? (ignore the red triangle. I accidentally almost edited the picture).

Where have you installed Java. Your first post implies it is here.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin

Here's my command line.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_491\bin\Java" -Xms512m -Xmx768m -jar "WitPTracker.jar" nomap

Your command line is looking here which is wrong. Your not pointing to Java.

"C:\Witp-tracker>Java" -Xms384m -Xmx512m "WitPTracker.jar" nomap

It should look like this
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\Java" -Xms384m -Xmx512m "WitPTracker.jar" nomap

Also make sure you have the latest 32-bit or 64-bit version for your computer.

I know how to make a target in the properties. I had it pointing directly at the place that floydg had it. I installed Java exactly how it was described on the installation website. It is in the correct place. I then copied floydg's target file and it was doing what I said previously.

Since no one could see what was wrong, I went ahead and put all my java files in the WITP tracker folder to see what would happen since it wouldn't need to go find it somewhere else. That was the error message I got.

If you look at my original post the target line was pointing directly where the installation website says. So, I didn't know what else to do. I think the error is not in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" part. It has to be in the rest of it, but I don't know enough to figure it out. Java was installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\ just like the installation says it should be.

So, I tried something a little original to see what I could see. I was also hoping that maybe someone would say "You have the wrong version of WITP Tracker" because I see 1.1 but I also see talk about version 1.92 or something, but I could never find a 1.92.

The version i'm using is v1.11

The latest, yesterday is installed here. C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_501

Tracker is installed four times on my computer in different folders typically D:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific AE\Tracker J and there all work perfectly.

My batch file command line looks like this

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_501\bin\Java" -Xms512m -Xmx768m -jar "WitPTracker.jar" nomap

I do not know of any restriction that Java may have on where it should be installed but what you won't be able to do is copy it.

The other thing I've just thought of is if you have copied tracker then it's witptracker.properties that will need to be amended so it knows where the game is. E.g. the
Dir=[D:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific AE]

I cannot help any more only suggest you deleted all java versions you have installed and start again.

Yeah, I figured at some point, I'd probably have to go through all the steps again. But I was hoping at first it wouldn't be needed.

I got it working. I am not sure how I did it.

Here's what I did, though.

1. Today I read everything again and I hadn't installed Java 7 or Java 8.
2. After installing those, it still wasn't working.
3. I DID change Chris's target to java target of Java 8.
4. I played around with what save file I had saved in the settings and I'm beginning to think that may have been the culprit. I think maybe my save file was incorrect.

I do have another question, though. It keeps loading a save turn I don't have saved anymore.

On the first turn which was December 8 I saved the file as "December 8th, The Full Campaign".

But I have saved over that file and it now says "3rd Day, Full Campaign, Dec 9th".

But Tracker keeps loading the December 8th turn. Is it looking back to the previous save somehow?
