Lobster - question; should the Bridge Type B Column Units have the Maroon non-combat engineer background?

Here's the 39th Motorized Corp as an example;

Yeah. It was partly to keep my sanity by making pontoons simple. I realize people can use pontoon units in ways that do not reflect the real world. Same with HQ units. People can discuss limits of what non combat units can and can't do.

The bridging units will take part in river assault operations so they have to be able to be in contact with the opposing side. Even the larger bridges could ferry units across a river since generally each pontoon could act as a ferry. The game doesn't get into much detail when it comes to pontoon units and the scenario is complex enough without complicating pontoon units. In game terms any pontoon can be used for any type of equipment regardless of weight. A pontoon is a pontoon. In real life terms that isn't true. No way to separate carrying weight of pontoon units in the game.

Historically some of the pontoon units could be considered non combat units just like construction engineers. Especially the larger types. Some of the larger type pontoon units didn't have the troops to assemble the larger pontoon bridges and used bridge engineers from other sources. Some of the larger type didn't have transport to move the pontoons and had to rely on outside help to provide trucks or halftracks to tow their trailers. Some of the rivers could take more than one day to bridge and consume more than one pontoon unit. I didn't get into that much detail even if I could have.

If duct tape doesn't fix it then you are not using enough duct tape.

And yes, there are still a couple of HQ units I missed so they show up as generic type symbols. :oops:

Dabbling, I change the TF icon to an actual Artillery Observation icon, and duplicated the high echelon HQ symbol using an inert(?) icon (the KG icon) so that Army Group, Corp HQ, or Front HQ were more stand out-ish. My thought being hierarchy above the Force supplying HQ gets the fancy icon. I couldn't think of a better term than "Operations Headquarters", so if anyone can suggest an accurate term I'd apply that.

Also - sent you a pm.

<s_1225 t="KAMPHGRUPPE_ICON_STRING" v="Operations Headquarters"/>
<s_1310 t="ARMY_TASK_FORCE_ICON_STRING" v="Artillery Observation"/>

Let me know if you want the counter sheets.

This scenario has so many bloody HQ units because that's what Mr. Askey wanted before he decided to quit working on the book series. Still, it does model all of the various units both sides had and all of them will sap replacements if they get moved around a lot. That's why I had to restrict who could provide supply based on how it actually occured for both sides. Otherwise everything would be over supplied due to the massive number of HQ.
It's really neat what you're doing. When you get done, if it's okay, I could go through everything and replace unit icons with what you've done.

Color ID misfire? I thought you were using ID74 for attached Luftwaffe flak? Also, 153 was a Rgt? (edited 153 - not 15)

Side note; it looks like Niehorster has a typo ; http://niehorster.org/011_germany/41-oo ... mitte.html. Other sources, and your work, shows the 18 Flak Rgt with the 11th Army, while the 153 Flak was with AGC.

Those flak units are Army, not Luftwaffe. Fixed the Luftwaffe HQ.
Fixed the flooded marsh rail hexes. Those I found anyway. That bug totally slipped my mind and since the testing was done in areas where there was no opportunity to come across that issue it was never caught. :roll:
Fixed what HQ I could find that had the wrong icon.
Sorry this all took so long. Wife had a couple of health issues and now it consumes a lot of my time.

Forgot. For the life of me I can't get the Artillery HQ to say artillery instead of civilian.
