RTW3: v1.01.42 Public Beta Now Available

Post by Sandrasy »

Hello everyone 👋🏻

We have a new public beta for Rule the Waves 3. You can access it by downloading it from the Rule the Waves 3 store page and from My Page, or from the following Download Link: HERE

For Steam users, you can switch to it by going to RTW3 in your Steam Library, right-clicking on it, choosing Properties -> Betas -> then choosing the latest beta branch from the drop-down list and allowing Steam to update your game. If it updates correctly, you should see the latest beta version listed as your version in-game on the bottom right. Make sure you have the DLC enabled (Properties -> DLC)!
Note: you may need to restart Steam in order to see the beta branch.

Changelog below:

v1.01.42 - July 14th, 2026

User Interface
Submarine tonnage is now added to tonnage in the almanac (This could be confusing to players as submarine tonnage is counted for the treaty tonnage limit).
Fixed a bug with the Spanish small flag being shown in the map possessions tree if the possession was neutral.

Battle Resolution
Fixed a bug with battles sometimes not ending when all ships on a side were sunk.

AI
Curbed the tendency of the AI to build early battlecruisers with only two turrets.

Ship Design
Fixed a bug with high spotting positions disappearing in a refit.
Fixed a problem when ships had mines and mine rails were not developed. The mines will now be removed when the design is checked.

Scenario Editor
Added ability to copy and paste air groups in the scenario editor.

Quick Battles
Added ability do generate side pictures for ships in quick battles.

Ship Designs
Fixed some missing visuals for ships.

v1.01.40 - June 11th, 2026

Data
- Fixed faulty special characters in the Map data file.

UI
- Fixed a bug with 'Small salvo' being erroneously displayed in the hit chance details if the most common ammo type for that target was unavailable. (Only a display bug, the actual firing calculations were correct).

Campaign
- Capped the number of AMC building to 8 at the same time. This is to prevent AMC spam exploits.

Ship Design
- Fixed a problem with secondary director checkbox being disabled but checked and unable to uncheck.
Improved autodesign function when building at a foreign yard.
- Fixed a bug in the weight calculations for missile reloads.
- Fixed a problem with rebuilds not being allowed for foreign built ships if the owning nation had not researched the TPS level of the ship.
- More realistic long range spotting modifier when a target ship is hull down over the horizon. The normal spotting range is based on the assumed spotting height of the shooting ship, calculated on the basis of displacement. The spotting range can be increased by equipping ships with high spotting positions, at a cost in topside load and displacement. This in effect simulates the reasons for and the effects of Japanese "pagoda" masts. The long range spotting malus is cancelled by fire control radar 2 or better.

Combat Resolution
- Fixed a quirk in the sighting routines where a new enemy sighting could be reported but the enemy ship could not be seen on the map.

Invasions
- Enemy nations will now not repeat invasion attempts too soon.
Invasions are now possible to execute in home areas, even if blockaded (Germany was certainly blockaded when they did operation Albion).
