Chuuk Lagoon 2026

Post by Bullshark »

Chuuk June 2026 : Greetings from SS Thorfinn

After My January trip here I decided to come back for another month. As a Diver and
History Buff, this place is a living museum. To be able to Dive next to 450’ ships that
are 50’ at the railing to the bottom is unique and special. To do it with 70 ships and
Abundant marine life is a real thrill. I now have 50 dives this month and 100 in January
So I have seen a lot and remember nothing: It all becomes a mix of brown coral and
Dark steel after a while.
Each ship has their own story and I will put a few warhips on this thread and a few more
Maru’s on my 2025 thread.
Notes:
1. Camera – Go Pro13. It is a wide angle lense and most of the pictures are at
90’. The light is usually low and with the wide angle you have to “ZOOM” in a little
To truly see the subject of the picture.

2. Clarity – Most of the time the water is pretty clear near the bottom but the plankton
And small fish are always part of the shot. Marine life does well in the lagoon.

3. I am doing three dives a day so the pace is busy from Sun up to Sun down so
My posting is often sketchy, re-edited and incomplete, and Internet is often interrupted.

For a 6’ diver these ships are huge, I like to say enormous! So I will try not
To get too wordy or let my wisdom and experience make me think:

Enormous https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeEzZW3 ... rt_radio=1

Futagami

Wrecks are known for good sea life.
These 5 Dolphins swam right up to us at 15'. Stayed for a minute. We only have 30' vis. and they only
started clicking when they were close. 2nd time this trip. It's the thrilling part of being here!!
