Map Black after Loading Save

I went back to play my ongoing 1805 campaign and whenever I tried to load either the save I created, or the autosave, my map screen [only] was black w/ no units AT ALL! The buttons were there and when I pressed the button to proceed to the next phase, I got reports for all my commands that they were gone. This was followed by the declaration of "A Decisive Austrian Victory". Needless to say, I was nonplussed. [&:]

Do you have an error running in the background? [ctl], [alt], [del] in task manager will tell you. I rebooted to get rid of that error. (I had restarted the game a few dozen times.)

I don't think so MarkT, as when I shut down the program there was no error. Also, the entire screen wasn't black, just the main map portion. The game buttons actually were operable!

I had a good game going, and I haven't gone back yet b/c what's the point if my saves don't work?? This really took me aback. [:(]

Don't give up on it. I've played 20-40 games to completion, and 70+ whith saves.
I've only hit the blank map once. I'm still trying to Isolate my first error. Blank combat...

I've just had this same problem with the first game I've tried to play from a save. I'm confident that Frank and Matrix will patch the game, but I'm a little disappointed that there are so many obvious faults in the release version - wasn't this an upgrade to a long-standing product? Not sure if there are only a few of us with these problems, but it is disconcerting.

Keep in mind when you "facelift" a product, all connections are lost to source code. Code, that at times are long forgotten. Like re-attaching a thumb, all those nerves and such to reconnect. Add a brand new (virtually untested) music interface, and you are primed for some difficulty. The best we can do to improve the product is to find the errors, at least to, improve the next release. If truely, this is a "port over", I for one find it very nice, nice enough to devote a lot of my time to get it right. This could be the first of a GREAT run of games. The errors here are over all, not that bad.
