Is it possible to mod in ships?

Post by vinnie71 »

What the title says. Can we somehow create units made up of ships? I'm asking because the basic building blocks for building ships actually exist (like shipboard guns, depth charges, flak and so forth).

I don't think you could do anything with the ship units. Gary considered using the database to add in ships into a game in Western Europe, but never got far on that project. The data is probably carried over from earlier games.

Ah ok. I tried to create a ship by first creating a 'chassis' similar to planes or tanks, then created a flotilla in TOE and finally created a unit on screen. However, the counter itself exhibits supply, ammo, fuel and number of men. No number of guns are exhibited though to be honest it does have a CV of 2-0. Does it mean that it would work like any other unit?

I have no idea. What "type" of unit is it? Since there is no type for ships, I would think it would follow rules for the unit type. CV should come from the ground elements in the unit.

Indeed. That's the case. The vessels move only on land.

I tried to copy the amphibious HQs etc but my copies simply do not travel the seas though they seem to be able to travel on land. I wonder how the Troop and Cargo Ships actually move on the sea. However, now I notice that CV increased substantially (19CV) though I think they represent the guns and torpedoes etc that are present on each vessel. The flotilla is made up of 5 'vessels' with a combined 20 100mm naval guns, 10 90mm AA guns, 30 AAMGs and 30 torpedoes.
