OK, I've got another update which removes the Spear and HAWC munitions but I'll let the current version ride for now...

Not sure if anyone has played this scenario recently, but I just fired it up.

Within 5 minutes of Russia going hostile, Russia fired 273 SS-26s, 24 SSC-5s, 119 SSC-7s, 24 SSC-8s, 24 switchblades, and 24 sizzlers. The primary targets were the Baltic task force ships and the estonian/latvian airfields, which have no air defenses whatsoever. The Baltic task force ships have some sea sparrows, but two russian tarentuls were within 1nm of them when hostilities kicked off (I had my ships running West at flank speed, but the Tarantuls are faster) and two of the sea sparrow launchers were disabled by 76mm rounds within seconds of hostilies.

The strike aircraft that I launched when hostilities kicked off hadn't even come anywhere near striking range before the scenario concluded with a loss, approximately 10 minutes into the scenario.

Any tips on how to approach this scenario?

It's really difficult now that Bart has incorporated at least some of the improvements to the Russian AI that AndrewJ recommended after his playtest. I lasted a bit longer than 10 minutes, but was still well-beaten. As you say, the volume of ballistic missiles that come at you is mind-boggling and impossible to defend against.

IMO is a Kobayashi Maru scenario.

Cadet Kirk found the solution :)

In this case the solution is to inactivate Russia wins event, that as you are commenting is reached too soon.

This way you may still be defeated (NATO has no bombers and too few long range weapons), but at least you have the opportunity to strike back.

If NATO would surrender so soon is even more dead than I thought.
