Multiplayer Save Scumming Detection?

Post by KritterVA »

Anyone know if there is a way to detect this when playing online (Multiplayer) games?

Is when you launch an attack, it fails, you quit the game, restart and repeat the loop until your attack(s) is successful. It's pretty time consuming and, IIRC, only Matrix has a way to see if a specific savegame has been uploaded/downloaded a suspiciously amount of time from the server within a short time frame.

That’s what I thought “scumming” meant. Never seen it called that. It’s just cheating. This should be an easy fix, in TOAW IV PBEM, it tells how many times your opponent has reloaded his play turn, and during replay there is an annoying beep which indicates an undo move. Certainly this could “patched”. Or a house rule just two reloads allowed or two undo moves allowed. Sometimes you just click the wrong stack.

Matrix has a system that tracks reloads and automatically warns abusers. If you feel your opponent is not being honest about how they are playing, I think you could contact Matrix and ask them to check the game logs.

Thank you for the prompt reply about this issue. It’s all good and dandy that Matrux can access the logs and give notice for abuse. But it would timely and efficient if players can have an in-game message on number of reloads and undo moves. Certainty, this would be greatly appreciated in a future patch.
