Remember, in a stack, each LCU has an indvidual DL. Fly a dozen of indvidual recon missions over Changsha so you can get a good DL on all Chinese units.

So, it is better to fly a recon mission as a chutai or break it down into 3 elements and have each element fly the recon mission to the same target?

Break it down ... the more missions, the more LCU's likely to be "discovered".

So then, not necessarily terrible results if the forts are 5 or higher. While not perfect, the ground model is still pretty good, and in particular, the bombardment algorithms are quite good. While, the actual casualties were low, the impact upon morale, disruption, and fatigue will likely show.

So is IJ arty great? Heck no. Most of the heavy pieces are early 1900's and a good number are from late 1800's. But, it does have effect IF you can get enough of it together. And I'm not talking about units, but rather actual device numbers, because many units have only a few devices. When I attack CK, I can gather just over 70 devices* of greater than 150mm ... that is scavenging from everywhere... and they are pretty effective, and really, really, expensive in terms of supply.

* I think the number is 74, but I may be off a few ... there is one unit that can't leave the HI.

Sadly, there is little evidence linking Commander traits to Arty LCU combat performance. I tried to test for this years ago, and land skill ... well let me just say that if there is a correlation beyond random outcome I could not discern it.
