I figured 14 was the newer version, but I really wanted to be sure. Didn't know about the WaW connection.

Thank you very much for the clarification.

I have some questions about the gameplay differences between the standard game and Fall Weiss 14. I hope this is the correct place to ask.

Is there a complete list of gameplay changes or do I have to scroll through every update to try to figure out all the changes?

Thanks

This MOD has research in Aerial Warfare and Armored Warfare which increases morale but doesn't give the extra strike like in the regular game How important are these to research vs. other options?
Thanks for any opinions.

Are the original 9.1 files still available for download?

Thanks

Title:
Fall Weiss II WIE 14.0 - Crash after Poland surrenders

Message:

Hello,

I have encountered a reproducible error in Fall Weiss II - WIE 14.0.

The game runs normally through the entire Polish campaign and several early decisions fire correctly, including:

Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact
Italian aircraft investment decision
Spanish Civil War related decision
Other early diplomatic events

The problem occurs immediately after Poland surrenders.

The sequence appears to be:

Poland surrenders.
Germany receives the event regarding the seizure of Polish MPPs from Warsaw.
Shortly afterwards the following error appears:
FAILED(splash_message_dialog:
draw_splash_popup_text_to_buffer): No such file or directory

The error is fully reproducible and occurs every time at this point in the campaign.

I disabled all additional graphical and map mods and tested again with only Fall Weiss II installed, but the issue remained unchanged.

Has anyone else encountered this issue, or does anyone know which event is triggered immediately after the Polish MPP seizure event?

Thank you.Image

This issue gets mentioned a lot in this thread. It probably means Fall Weiss is currently in the wrong directory.

Like with a lot of previous posters here, it is possible this mod somehow got placed in with the game's official campaigns folder but since it is a "mod" it needs to go in a completely different file.

Typically mods should go here:

C:\Users\[Your User Name]\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War In Europe\Campaigns

Paste the mod there and delete the mod file in the old location. It should stop the post-Poland crash.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I believe my installation is already correct for this particular project.

I have all my Strategic Command mods installed in:

Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War in Europe\Mods

and Fall Weiss II is also present there.

The issue is that when I run Fall Weiss II purely as a standard mod from the Mods directory, many of the scenario's additional units and content do not appear in-game.

To get the full experience, including all the extra units added by Fall Weiss II, the campaign also needs to be installed and launched as a campaign package,

The post-Poland crash occurs even when running the campaign in English and with all graphical mods disabled, which makes me think this may be related to a specific event triggered immediately after Poland surrenders rather than a language or installation issue.

Thanks again for the help and suggestions. :(

Possible Installation Fix for Fall Weiss II - WIE 14.0

After some testing, it appears that players experiencing issues with missing content or campaign loading problems should follow the installation instructions included with the mod very carefully.

The author recommends one of the following solutions:

Install the mod in the Campaigns folder exactly as described in the included documentation.
If you cannot locate the correct Campaign folder, open the Strategic Command Editor, create and save a new campaign with a unique name, and use the location of that newly created campaign folder.
If the campaign still does not load correctly or does not appear in the game, open the Fall Weiss campaign with the Editor and simply save it again.

In my case, opening the campaign in the Editor and saving it appears to have cleaned up the installation and allowed the campaign to load correctly.

Hopefully this helps anyone experiencing similar issues.

Thanks again for all the work that went into this excellent mod.
