OSM Vector Style modding

Post by thewood1 »

I am brand new to this type of modding so bear with me.

Here is a json file I modded on maputnik:

Here is what it looks like in CMO after moving the json to the styles fold under GIS/OSM_Vector:

Are the black lines, borders, and names permanent in CMO regardless of style? I spent two days (off and on) trying to get rid of them.

Maputnik last version seems to be 3.1, not 1.7

https://maplibre.org/maputnik/?layer=26 ... .372/8.542

If that is not the cause, perhaps is a CMO bug.

Its OK if you don't know the answer. You don't have to reply.

btw, the version of maputnik doesn't matter. The error turned out to be my understanding how you remove layers in the json file.

Also just want to point out that the Maputnik app with the json file support for CMO is very cool. Its fairly nuanced in how to use it effectively. Things that look really cool in Maputnik can end up looking like crap in CMO. For example, roads added in Maputnik and look nice and thin, translate into thick bands of black lines in CMO. You can easily make the map so cluttered as to be almost unusable.

But on the plus side, you can use OSM jsons instead of overlays much easier and more effectively. I had to watch a number of videos to get even a rudimentary set of modding skills.
