TOC(a build-in Index) for Living Manual.pdf would be great.

i use the living rules next to the ebook in tandem to look and swap when needed, eg. screenshots that aren't in the living rules ...
also the living rules.pdf is much faster, cpu-wise from my end, to search than the ebook.

anyway, IMO the ebook really shines because of the build-in index/TOC - one press of a button and i can navigate between topics - don't you use them, too?
... all the time?
... like me?!

just a guess/a simple wish, but wouldn't it be easy, like a push of a button, to generate a TOC for the living rules?

If you mean setting up an index in the living manual (it already has a TOC), it is not a 1 click operation as far as I understand. If there's an easy way to set up an index in a doc file, I'd be interesting in hearing how to do that.

one-click-operation - sry ... i didn't want be that customer.

edit: more to the point, i don't know the best(or any ...) way to accomplish my request.

• i tried to find special TOC export options in my libreoffice setup - guess, one has to work with H1,H2, H3 ... headings to make this work (that's how i setup my eBooks for e reader), dunno.
• converted the pdf to docx with libreoffice and/or calibre to check for headings but still feel dumb ... highlighting the different headings gave me over 40 different styles to look at and the whole one-click-operation escalates into one mighty click-fest!
• converted the pdf to pdf with forced TOC generation with calibre Gui = almost useful but all formatting of tables went out of the window ... and the document went up to 1500 pages! LOL!
• i'm pondering if i should try a python/script (pdf.tocgen) tool for doing (that looks like work ...) this ... but really, this should be easier ...

i mean, that's all i can try without having access to the original doc file, that is ... and then again, who cares that hard?! there are much bigger fish to fry, not?

... of course, i could just let some poor artificial ghost do all the pondering and write up a nice post of how i did this and that ...

... but i'm not that customer either!!!!
