Game crashed on launch

Reinstalled SC WW2: World at War yesterday on Steam after playing several years ago. Launch window opens, but the game fails to launch after I click Play.

I've tried bypassing the Steam launcher and whitelisting it in my antivirus app, but it's still a no-go. I receive no error message. I click Play and the launcher snaps shut, quietly mocking me. ;)

I'd love to play this game again! Please help?
