[ELOs ended]
Thunderlizard11 (allies) [WIN] v. arikogut (axis) [LOSS] - Axis resigns Jan '43. Strong game by arikogut with Russia pushed back to the edges of Moscow and closing in on the Urals. I think axis still had a good change as Russian units were melting. Allies landed in France and took Norway and Denmark. For some reason Axis did not take over Denmark. Japan holding strong with allies picking off the outer islands. Great turn return from a player getting stronger each match.
Thunderlizard11 (axis) [WIN] v. Rudolf Steiner (allies) [LOSS] - Allies resigns May 1942. Germans pushing deep into Russia with Caucuses, Stalingrad under control and Saratov next. Russia pushed too far forward and payed a price in terms of destroyed units. Another rapid game with fast turn returns.

From which secret hole is Thunderlizard digging all those ELO opponents, from some of which you have never even heard of or seen posting ANYTHING ever in the forum??
Do they even know they are playing an ELO game?

Ok, I see. Like CzaroMen73 you started an ELO game with on 10.8.
I've seen him host public challenges like 1000 times, sometimes 4 games simultaneously.
So now he has finally joined the ELO community. Welcome CzaroMen73!

TH11, I think it is long overdue for you to stop making a mockery of the rest of us. By now, your behavior has been exposed, and it seems as though you are simply ridiculing the other players on this forum.
As far as I am concerned, the “ghost games” you keep posting have no credibility, especially when you refuse to play against me or other players who are near the top of the rankings. If it were up to me, you would already have been removed from this ELO ranking long ago.
I still remember when you ghosted our game a couple of years ago. While you left me waiting for weeks without sending any turns because you were clearly losing, you were simultaneously starting new games with other players.
Best regards, and I hope you enjoy your games. However, I would ask that you stop posting these ghost games in our ELO thread.

Hey Taifun - you've had run ins with many on this ELO board including Elvis and others. I would ask that you be kicked out of the rankings for whining which seems to be your forte. I still remember telling you I was away but you were too much of an idiot to remember that.Taifun wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 3:33 pm TH11, I think it is long overdue for you to stop making a mockery of the rest of us. Elvis announced the game as finished without resigning. When I played the last turn without knowing, he had eliminated many of his land/air units (about 60%)thus denying me the opportunity to check the final dispositions of the game. In 20+ years of gaming, I never saw this behavior before!!
Elvis deletes all possible units.png
I played SC-1, SC-2 probably same about of games.
Then I didn't play for a decade, Covid scam brought me back.
I've posted every single win or loss.
I've never ghosted an opponent.
I've never misled an opponent or even debated the result of a game.
I'm sure I've pissed a few people off by surrendering early, but they got their win.
My record is average, I'm ranked what #40 in the world.
Not only that, I gotta have the fastest speed of returning turns.
I had 4+ games going during ours, I was flipping turns fast as you sent them.
And now you come after me with some accusations about disbanding units.
I lost.
I posted.
Of course I disbanded my units.
I've done it probably 25+ times within my 100 losses.
Why would I want to give more information about my Japanese defenses in this particular game.
Is there some secret special gamey unposted rule that I cannot disband my units?
I figured we'd play a rematch, I wasn't go show you were my carriers were.
Remember last game, when I sent my IJN North of Midway and got slaughtered, did I cry?
I had a plan for you this game, didn't want you to see the IJN. Lots of elite units too.
Obviously something is bothering you, because this is normal behavior for me.
You're trying to deflect onto me. What am I suppose to do. I lost. I posted.
On the contrary, look at the TIMESTAMPS on this thread.
When did I post the Loss? Repeat, when did I repost the Loss?
I actually posted the Loss, before you even said "I think this game is over".
I never said shit in the message box.
I posted here, 2 turns early, IN THE FORUM THREAD, that I lost.
I even posted in my Elvis Gold Records thread that I lost.
You know why? I got my ass kicked.
So, I posted my loss before the game was over. Before anything was said.
I lost with the Italy swarm, despite clearing out Greece.
Hell (Heaven) I already posted to play again.
What's really bothering you?

Posting something that was disputed from over 2 years ago isn't particularly helpful.
Taifun is an excellent player who has added huge value to this forum with his superb AAR's and his insightful gameplay.
Slinging mud is a good attempt to distract attention from your own behaviour but you're not fooling anyone.

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
OK troops I am happy to announce that this issue has been quickly resolved. After receiving reports regarding ELO games where one player might not realise it is an ELO game I have contacted those involved and we have agreed to an adjustment to the next ELO table. I will also issue a reminder about consent every now and again when I send out my general reminders.
I am sure everyone wants to just get back to playing the game and engaging with other members in a friendly environment. I urge everyone to move on and not try to have the last word here.
The adjustment will be small and non-specific to individual games, as it is very hard to reverse engineer ELO tables after the fact. This is a lot less work and it's a result that I am happy with as the current provider of the rankings.
Back to the game - see you all (briefly) in Warsaw.

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
Thank you Firsteds for attempting to calm the situation. I appreciate your leadership in the WaW forum and the work that you invest in maintaining the ELO ratings. I depend on the ratings to find opponents who follow the rules and are considerate of other players.
I have a lot of respect for Pete and Taifun. They consider their words carefully and don't jump to conclusions. For years they have been leaders in the WaW discussions, providing exciting AARs, gaming advice, and important updates to the game. When they tell me there's a problem, there's a problem. Apparently, you also have found a problem, otherwise you wouldn't be offering to adjust the ELO ratings.
Boosting an ELO rating by submitting fake games or submitting ELO games without the knowledge of your opponent is cheating. I'm sorry but no amount of tweaking the ELO ratings is going to fix that problem.
Respectfully,
Bill

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
Looks like my initial post kicked off this whole discussion. I actually didn't want to comment further, but after seeing TLs reaction I have to come back to this.
What is striking to me is that he spends a lot of energy to throwing garbage over other people like Taifun or Pete.
But to my simple post concerning CzaroMen73 there is no reaction at all.
And I think we all know why: because CzaroMen73 has never heard of ELO and TL has no way of getting around that fact.
But what really shocked me is his totally unappropriate language and disrespect.
We are a bunch of respectful, educated and well- mannered game enthusiasts. Thunderlizard has completely disqualified himself by now.
I was initially for the correction of ladder results but now I am joining the growing number of players demanding him to be deleted from the ranking list.
Chris, I hope you make the right decision.

I have not been to these forums for along time. I was told upfront but had no idea what he meant by ELO. I agreed to no major diplomacy and no garrison transport scouts. When another player I was involved in a different match, told me it was a tournament match. I felt compromised. When I approached Thunder Lizard that I did not consent to this, he quit.Pekkavilamoura wrote: Mon Aug 17, 2026 7:56 pm From which secret hole is Thunderlizard digging all those ELO opponents, from some of which you have never even heard of or seen posting ANYTHING ever in the forum??

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
When we started that game I asked you if you were OK with the ELO match rules. As I recall, you asked several questions which I responded to and I thought we were agreed. It's clear from your post that you did not think it would be an ELO game that would be tracked and posted - that was a clear misunderstanding. When you told me that after I resigned the match and the game will obviously not be counted. I will taking a screenshot on this going forward to avoid any misunderstandings and clarifying that I plan to post the match up front so there's no surprises. As you know, there is a limit to the text box size for communicating.Sparky0565 wrote: Thu Aug 20, 2026 1:52 pm

Yes Pekkavilamoura they do know and I'm confirming this going forward to prevent busy bodies from fomenting more controversy. Maybe try playing more games rather than digging for dirt on other players?Pekkavilamoura wrote: Mon Aug 17, 2026 7:56 pm From which secret hole is Thunderlizard digging all those ELO opponents, from some of which you have never even heard of or seen posting ANYTHING ever in the forum??

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
I will not respond to personal insults.
Simply applying ELO rules does not automatically make a game part of the official ELO tournament.
Some opponents whose results you submit have never participated in discussions on this forum, making it difficult to verify whether they were aware that their games were being counted toward the ELO ranking.
The issue is not the outcome of any individual game; it is the failure to follow the rules that were clearly communicated to everyone.
Whenever I have proposed a match, you have repeatedly declined or offered excuses while continuing to start games with other players.
Please stop making a fool of yourself in public.

I think you should take your own advice. I personally have zero interest in playing a match against you as last time we played a match you whined when I went on vacation for a few weeks. Then you whined about Elvis "deleting units".
I suggest you start folllowing your own suggestion.Taifun wrote: Fri Jun 07, 2024 10:04 pm [attachment=0]Adieu.jpg[/attachment
Everything is fine. Just relax and enjoy this great game!
