Is there any old school gaming sites?

We used to have the Blitz or Grognards back in the early 2000's where we could actually find opponents. Where did they go? I just want to play PBEM games, not these multi player games.

Depending on the game you can sometimes find a pbem matchup around here, but lately most people are demanding "experienced" (whatever that means) opponents - I don't mean for TOAW IV,- I don't even have it installed anymore myself (more or less given up on it), but other Matrix titles. There are a few people sometimes looking to pbem an older Grigsby game (that require jumping through hoops and sprinkling magic dust on to make work with a modern computer), and also Strategic Command.

You mentioned The Blitz: It's still around (I'm a member, but haven't visited in months) the forums are pretty dead, and finding a pbem is hit or miss now - a bit of a ghost town, but still there. Web Grognards, from what I've seen lately might as well just close up shop. No discussions even worthwhile about anything, and pbem matchups are almost non-existent.

You can maybe try Wargame Design Studio's (WDS) forums, but you'll have to be into John Tiller style games, as that's what they're all about, and the forums are really an in house thing. Mostly a nice group of people too.

A lot of the old gaming clubs and websites are long gone now. Take for instance the computer version of SPI's "War in Europe" - there used to be a very active mailing list, and a forum for it run by the publisher, Decision Games. It was easy to get a 2 or even 3 player game going, but no more, everything's gone. I doubt anyone remembers CWiE, and while some people may still have it, I haven't heard of anyone playing it in a real long time.

So, while pbem gaming is not totally dead (I get what you mean about multi-player), you really have to work at finding a matchup with someone who actually wants to play what you may interested in.
