It's now T27 and here's what it looks like around the Tula area right now. I'm making slow progress. I drove a recon unit up to the city to see what it has for defenders and there's not much there. I'm about to surround a large group of Soviet units prior to destroying them. I'm optimistic about the near future.

I've managed to get into the surburbs of Leningrad and I've been pounding the stacks around the city and I'm using my engineers to leap the river and get into the Soviet backfield. The battles around Moscow are getting expensive. Several Soviet units have evaporated due to combat, when they are attacking me in the face of all my arty. Kharkov has been cleared out and I'm pushing eastward. Sevastopol is a fortress and my losses are heavy trying to take it with my Rumanians.

This is the area between Kalinin and Rybinsk, which is my next local goal. I figure if I can control that town I can cut off the northern Soviet reinforcements from the rest of Russia for a while. I'm in favor in holding up the Soviets where ever I can. I've demarked a yellow brick road for my intended path to get there. I can effectively split the battlefields coming at me from the north and those coming at me from the east using this area to block both directions at the same time. That's the theory.

It's now T28 just before the first combat phase. I'm aiming at the hex just south of Leningrad and simultaneously I'm trying to clear out the Soviet groups to the east. The Leningrad area will be cleared out entirely by T35 or so I predict. As soon as I capture Leningrad the Finns are released from having to stop at the stop line and the Leningrad area will be cleaned by the end of the next turn.

This is what it looks like around the Moscow area right now. The front lines are dynamic and fluid. I'm using the river metaphore where I flow int the direction of least resistance to make progress. Progress is slow because of stiff Soviet resistance because they are resisting stiffly. The supply levels are more than adequate so there's no problem getting beans bullets and bandaids into the forward lines.

This is what it looks like around the Sevastopol area right now. I've managed to collapse the Soviet defensive lines a little bit. I managed to get behind the Kerch Straits defenders and I plan to overcome them completely, repair the rails all the way to the port(s) and post some defenders of my own and concentrate on Rostov.

This is T28 round 5 and I finally managed to capture Leningrad and now the Finns can drop down from the north and kill all the Soviet defenders and clear out the entire area. Now to concentrate on Moscow.
