Star Trek Original Series Era - Coming this Year in 2026

I have been working on the idea for this mod for some time now and am confident I know enough about this game to begin adding the ships from Star Trek to the game........

The problem is that there is very little documentation out there to help create the USS Enterprise for example in Distant Worlds 2......

But I think I have a solution to this.

Now I have been a Star Trek fan for a very long time so I know the series like the back of my hand........
I know a lot about how Distant Worlds 2 works with a few years of working through this game.


Below is an idea of how I might to add the parts of the Enterprise to Distant Worlds 2.

This mod is going to be the first of two or three based on Star Trek with this first mod being set during Star Trek The Motion Picture.
The next one being Star Trek TNG and Star Trek DS9.
The third one being Star Trek Voyager




Below are the stats I am looking at for the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 Refit........

Distant Worlds 2 is a space battle game.... so the USS Enterprise will need her phasers.
This is what I have planned for this mod re the ship phasers.

The USS Enterpriuse and other Federation ships also needs their photon torpedoes.

As there will be a lot of battles in this game, the ships need to be protected with Deflector Shields.

And of course none of the ships in the game will be moving without the impulse engines and warp drive.

The ships will have specific areas in the game which can take damage during battles....

So far a lot of detail going into the mod.. and we have not even touched the research yet.


But the biggest challenge of course will be to create the model of the ships as seen here for the Enterprise.

I will be testing creating the map for this mod and seeing if I can create the map at the same time as I am creating the mod,.. the original version of the game did not allow anything to be added to the game after the map was created.


This map shows the Vulcan sector with Sol at the top left corner.

Some early testing of AI creating a 100% snapshot of the 11 systems in the Vulcan sector.

I needed to give AI instructions telling it to only use Star Trek names and not real world astronomy names

And here is the data it picked up from the map I gave it of the Sol system... With a little luck this will be used to create a highly accurate map of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.
