Help to run SPWAW 8.01

Post by Meza »

I've just installed SPWAW 8.01 on a machine with Windows 2000 SP3, but it will not run. It starts and gives me a black screen for a couple of seconds, but then it returns to the menu. The system should meet the game-requirements (DirectX 9.0b etc). Anybody got an idea of what could be wrong????????

Do you have a sound card? It is required to run the game.

Also, try starting the game from the mech.exe file. Sometimes that intro video causes games to fail and it is a waste of time watching it anyway.

Good luck!

Try the quickstart or run mech.exe directly. That will bypass the startup graphics and cinematics.

Both of you: Thanks for the fast replies...........
Actually´I don't have a soundcard - it's "onboard sound" - so it might be the problem (I was too fast to state that the system meets the requirements!). Is there any workaround or is there no other way than to plug a soundcard in??
I've tried the mech.exe, and thats the same result. However, the editor runs.
Again - thanx................

Runs just fine on my maindoard (NF7, nForce2) integrated sounds... Practicly all new computers have "on board" sound chips. You have installed the drivers, haven't you? (for the sound)
