How many of you keep playing? Forum seems almost dead these days...

World in Flames is the computer version of Australian Design Group classic board game. World In Flames is a highly detailed game covering the both Europe and Pacific Theaters of Operations during World War II. If you want grand strategy this game is for you.

Probably, my most expensive initial purchase on Matrix, when it first game out. Loved the books, always waited for the monthly updates, which became more and more infrequent.
Now probably my biggest regret/ disappointment. Sure I can play it solo, but I can go to a shelf and grab any number of hex and counter boxes and open them up or fire up a VASSAL game.
One of the key aspects for most of the games on matrix is buy-in from the community on either graphic mods, scenario creation or feedback to the developer that gets implemented or discussed.
MWIF always felt like it was stamping out bugs, and not quite catching up.
A final release should have included some form of scenario editor for making smaller battles.
(Just my thoughts, don't take offence folks.)

Could you elaborate on this? What/where is Magic? And Ronnie’s paper is probably the Layman’s Guide thread; is there a downloadable pdf guide? If/when I get serious about trying a solitaire game, I’ll want that. I’ve been holding off for the half-map Fascist Tide but probably won’t ever see it now. Sigh.
Well, Magic is a tool that Ronnie created, to edit the game files and edit the issues that the game creates. AFAIK it works for relocating units, organizing/deorganizing them, changing control of hexes, and maybe more. In the past Ronnie let us deliver it freely, I believe we can still do so.

The Layman's Guide is the last resort for those things Magic is not prepared to solve. It may be complicated to understand for someone not programmer, but once you do, it is not difficult to handle. I guess I could send you a copy if nobody opposes.

Jose, I'm fine with you sending both to anyone you wish. I'd love to host both tools; but I really don't have a good place with enough space to host either. My only caveat is that both are provided as is ...

I'd love to get access to Magic as I have only edited the file manually when needed, and it's a bit cumbersome and error prone

Ok, Magic is too big to be able to be sent through MP, if you give me your emails (through MP if you want to), I will send it to anyone interested.

Edit: I mean, give me some emails through MP for privacy
