AAW Units Engaging Offensive in transit to patrol area

Post by Knightpawn »

Has anyone noticed that aircrafts assigned to an AAW Partol, while still in transit to their designated area, put the afterburner on and engage offensive as soon as an enemy is detected in their area of responsibility. This can happen hundreds of miles away from the patrol aera resulting in the aircrafts, when they finally get there, to be bingo / almost bingo. This behavior can easily ruin elaborate plans. Before posting on tech, has anyone noticed this? How do you deal with it in your games?

I think setting opp fire off for the unit and on for the mission might keep the unit from going offensive until it reaches the patrol area. There was something like that at one time, but my brain is foggy on it.

I have opportunity targets off accross all levels. The attack distance setting solves the problem during transit but I don't know if it is kept "on" when in patrol area. I would not like that.
