I would like to ask, if i'm running a PBEM with the current scenario you have been building and i update it, will it break anything?

also what are the civilians for? i saw something about civilians in the PDF.
The save file stores the version with which you started, so updates won't affect the save at all (good or bad). If the hex file changes (which it hasn't in several versions), that could affect your game. I'm also doing an Japanese engine overhaul which should be in the next update; maybe by Wednesday evening.

Civilians are there for flavor only - and they give your enemy VPs if they destroy them.

Sorry for spamming with this stuff.

Davao had ~20.000 Japanese civilians by 1941, North Borneo had thousands, Jesselton, Sandakan, Tawau.

In Malay Japanese had a strong presence in Penang/Georgetown, it was named after Tojo post occupation.
Georgetown had its European population evacuated.

Around 6000 where in DEI but where very scattered from Manado to Java, Batavia might have been the biggest concentration ~1000.

If you will be working with Hex files at some point then I hope you look at the Kanmon Railway Tunnel that was completed in November 1942.

Taking the rail link from the Straits of Shimonoseki in the latest map seems a very strange decision.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanmon_Railway_Tunnel

There should be some solution for the Tsugaru Strait also to reduce the micromanagement.

It was as late as July 14-15 1945 that Task Force 38 destroyed the Seikan rail ferry fleet.
Japan does not have rail ferries, is that a reason to force the Japanese player to create ahistorical convoys?

The strategic impact was enormous. The Seikan ferries were the sole means of transporting Hokkaido's coal — Japan's most critical remaining energy resource — to Honshu's war industries. With the fleet destroyed, coal shipments to Honshu fell sharply, dealing a crippling blow to Japan's already faltering industrial output in the final weeks of the war. It is often described as one of the most strategically effective air attacks of the Pacific War.

Eugen Pinak and Kent G. Budge both have IJA 39th division at Ichang 8th december.
I rate the accuracy of both online resources highly.

I can search from my books and online monographs but I have always wondered the current position in the map even if it was later part of the Changsha operation.
