Air dropped minefields . . . :o

Have you done any yet? That would be interesting to set some up right after a successful invasion! There would be a lot of ships to clear them the hard way.

This is a thread showing the fuel and oil flowing from Urumchi.

That's a neat idea. I haven't done any yet. Ted did it once at Madang and I just moved an AMc there. That was the end of that.

Sub War

The I-16 had a mission to drop off a midget sub at Tulagi. Unfortunately, when she entered the hex, an enemy ASW TF was also there. She was hit twice by DCs. She'll survive, but will need repairs at Truk.

5 Fleet

Adak's port damage is down to 78. Four more days for complete repairs.

4 Fleet

All quiet at Johnston. I still have 4 damaged Georges there.

SE Fleet

Allied air was limited to Corsair squadrons sweeping Munda, Lunga and Tulagi. I'm seriously considering hitting the squadron at Munda to whittle them down. I'll probably set that up tomorrow.

SRA

I have 27 Nells stationed at Saumlaki to keep an eye on Darwin. Another xAKL on a supply run to Darwin succumbed to torpedoes from the Nells. They are intentionally set to a couple hexes less than Darwin in case Ted puts fighters there. The Nells are unescorted, so I don't want them to be massacred. I keep the Nells and a sub to the east of Darwin and subs to the west.

Burma

Nothing to report.

China

Today's bombing/bombardment destroyed 38 squads. It's finally creeping back up to where it was before I ran low on supply.

Raw AV:
Japan: 4098 (+127)
China: 1344 (+7)
Enemy strength: 252k (no change)
Enemy units: 70 units (no change)
Guns: 261 (+25)

The Japanese AV is no longer counting 6 beat up divisions that will remain in Neikiang for a while to rebuild. Another full strength division just arrived to bolster the army for the next attack. That division is pretty much equal to the 6 resting divisions. The next attack will be in a few days. I'm letting the fatigue decrease a little more.

Other Stuff

The A6M5c Zero R&D advanced to 9/43 and is expected to become operational 6/43.

The Ha-43 engine R&D advanced to 7/44 and is expected to become operational 7/43.

There are 30 N1K2 Georges in the pool. Tomorrow, I'll upgrade a 31 plane unit.

To annoy your opponent, those midget subs can patrol a single hex at sea for a long time. They have sunk ships for me.

I guess that the crew lures sea birds to cat and eat raw, catch any fish available, plus grab any floating seaweed for greens!

Sub War

The midget sub at Tulagi lasted exactly 1 turn. She was prosecuted by a DD (that used up its depth charges) damaging her. I disbanded her in port and returned her to the pool.

5 Fleet

Adak's port damage is down to 57. Three more days...

4 Fleet

Nothing to report.

SE Fleet

Two squadrons of Corsairs swept Tulagi today. I decided not to try an ambush. I'll rest my pilots or train defense. I did upgrade one of my 31 plane George units to the N1K2. Looking forward to using them in several days.

SRA

Yesterday, I spotted an Allied TF 21 hexes WSW of Cocos Island, where I have some Emilies on naval search. I have a Glen sub out there covering he gap between the edge of the coverage and the map edge. I didn't know which way they were going, so I had the sub, about 9 hexes to the NW of the TF head toward it. The TF steamed 7 hexes due north. The sub is chasing them. I also moved 27 Nells to Cocos on naval attack. The Nells tracked the TF today but didn't engage. The TF is now 18 hexes due west of Cocos Island. I see it as 4 ships, an xAK and 3 xAP. Who knows how many there really are or what they are.

Anyway, I had MKB (unspotted) hanging out in the Bay of Bengal, just waiting for something to happen. They're 57 hexes to the NE of the TF and are now headed in that direction. If the TF is heading toward Colombo, they're 52 hexes south, so a week or so out. If that's their destination, MKB will catch them. I also have 2 CA, 5 CL and escorts leaving Singapore to try and catch them too. The slow oiler fleet is leaving Singapore for support as well.

I have a lot of assets headed for what may be just a handful of empty cargo ships. But, they may be full too. Only time will tell, if I'm lucky.

Burma

Nothing to report.

China

Today's bombing/bombardment destroyed 48 squads.

Raw AV:
Japan: 4198 (+100)
China: 1340 (-4)
Enemy strength: 253k (+1k)
Enemy units: 70 units (no change)
Guns: 229 (-32)

The Chinese unit that returned yesterday was the 5 Construction Regiment.

Other Stuff

SS I-37, Glen sub, headed to SE Fleet AO
