I've played the teaching sets after watching the online videos. Nice way to dive into the atmosphere of the game and to get to know the different types of units.

One question: Is there a seperate LOS tool in the game? (To check LOS in hexes not containing any friendly units).

No, there isn't an LOS tool.

That is by design, teaching you to predict your and your enemies LOS.
