Kunikawa Maru airgroup is now missing from arrivals, intentional do to the conversion path?
That could be balanced by giving Kimikawa Maru a second group?

Hirokawa Maru remains a Yusen-S?

Allied players might require an explanation.
More accommodation was built for crew and passengers, decks were reinforced, guns and ammunition stores were installed
.

EDIT. They did receive work it seems, just house rule their use from not becoming IJN assault transports or make them xAKs?

What repair capabilities does the Tategami Class have?

Rio de Janeiro Maru AS appears twice, at Kwajalein as Heian class and at Kure as Rio de Janiero but historically correctly as Buenos Aires class, her sister was a hospital ship.

Ship database shows a very potent Akagi Maru Q-ship class, what is it? Some alternate scenario uses them?

I dont know what the game models allow but if the Hilfskreuzers and their support ships could do at sea replenishment and repairs they could be house ruled from assisting IJN operations.

Hilfskreuze-class should carry one Ar 196A as the Michel historically had 2 and Thor had 1.
Some of these remain to be addressed?

I am really puzzled by the Ki-44 research tree.

Ki-44-IIc
should already have 4x20mm and 5 service rating for a Ki-44-III does feel very extreme just based on Francillon.
He only focuses on the 37mm and 40mm cannon variants as an curiosity.

Nobody has ever explained why in the real world Ki-100 beat the Ki-84 but it never does in the game.

Even from a game balance (hilarious as that is with Japan against US, China, British Empire and the USSR) point of view the Japanese player has to research the whole Ki-61 line and throw resources on the project and is not getting anything for free.

Ki-61/100 Hien Performance
https://ww2aircraft.net/forum/threads/k ... nce.51838/

The Ki-61 / Ki-100 series were capable of up to 850km/h IAS in a dive and pilot testimonies indicate the airframe and the wings could withstand even more.

The designer Dr. Doi wrote in his Maru Mecha magazine

'The dive limit was set to 850km/h. In the load test, assuming a loaded weight of 2950kg, no damage occurred even if 15G's were applied to the main wing and the subsequent tests were stopped. Although the weight reduction of the main wing was considered to improve its performance, the Ki-61 was shelved because it had already shown sufficient performance. "" There has never been a case where the Type 3 fighter had undergone aerial disassembly. "

On one occasion a Ki-61 pilot with the late speedometer showing up to 1000km/h reached a speed where his speedometer reached its limit and was shaking, claiming he reached the speed of sound. On other occasions several Japanese pilots testified even reaching 900km/h and yet there was no wrinkle on the wing and no flutter occurred.

Official Kawasaki document states '850km/h (Indicated)' as the official maximum safe dive limit for the Ki-61/100 series.
On the request of the person who shared the document with me, i cannot share it. But if you manage to get the document yourself, its right there.
Infact the secondary sources above most likely quote this same kawasaki document.

In comparison, Ki-83 has a service rating of 4 but I have a feeling that is going to go up. :D

I remember reading that it was a May 1942 that Japanese salvage teams started refloating the Admiralty IX Floating Dock in Singapore and it took months.
Cant find it now and naturally can remember wrong.

If someone knows, please share!

Here it is going down in 45, it is positioned just in front of the King George VI drydock, AO Shiroteko is inside.

This represents an aircraft's specific excess power and is directly proportional to the potential climb rate (or sink rate) of the aircraft or equivalently its net energy generation (or loss).

Note however that this can apply during any kind of maneuver, not simply a constant speed climb. Often this is expressed in the form of an energy-maneuverability contour plot with speed on the X axis and turn rate on the Y axis. The diagram is often referred to as an E-M diagram. At any point on the E-M diagram, an aircraft has a corresponding speed, turn rate, turn radius, g load, and specific excess power. An aircraft with positive specific excess power can change a performance parameter without sacrificing another. For example, it could increase g load or reduce turn radius without sacrificing altitude.

The E-M diagram also simplifies aircraft comparisons. If at a given point on the diagram, an aircraft has greater specific excess power than another aircraft operating at the same parameters, then it will have an energy advantage in that condition.

If those conditions are maintained, then the aircraft with lower specific excess power will be limited in maneuver options, while the other will maintain a broader range of its maneuver envelope.

Note however that certain maneuvers actively benefit an aircraft's capabilities from low or negative specific excess power. Particularly bleeding speed, reducing or reversing thrust, or post-stall maneuvers in order to make tighter turns or improve nose authority.

1128 seems to be long in the making, little worried you are building on top of that.

I've been terrible about keeping up with that. I'll publish a change log later this week sorted by version.

Kure 134(134) and Yokosuka 95(95) NavSY, should be 0 non damaged?

Also need to damage some MerSY after dropping the CVEs.

Kamikawa Marus need more reserve space, 12+6=18 is historically accurate.

The 12 operational planes is an abstraction to what they could operate during a 12/24h period and underway.
They only had 2 catapults compared to the CS Chioydas that had 4, but in addition to the 12-16 planes on deck they carried crated reserves and maintained damage planes in the hangars.

That is still 6 less than their Seaplane Support of 24, that is also correct, they where also AVs.
They even supported flying boats at times or supported other float plane groups as needed.

They and the CS classes even more where true modern multirole ships that unfortunately the game engine cant fully depict.

Image

EDIT.

Kamikawa Marus could transport 24 planes as AKV , about half are in the hangars so that is the maximum capacity to transport, not operate.
Kamikawa Maru-class as merchants had more than enough cranes and hangar space in comparison to these purpose built warships.

Mizuho with 4 catapults operated 24+8 spares, most room of the CS types do to her diesels.

Chitose-class with 4 catapults operated 24+5 spares.
(Chitose was converted to transport also submarines and lost some of that capacity but if implemented there should an option to revert as we have no submarines for the CS.)

Nisshin with 2 catapults was different as it was from the start intended to operate both 12 planes and 12 submarines.
Likely the reserve plane count was based on the room what was left from the submarine operations but this would be close to the capacity of the Kamikawa Maru.

(Nisshin was also a minelayer, possibly she could be modelled from a minelayer like Tsugaru or a cruiser.
She would likely lose her Sorties and Seaplane Support but would gain minelaying and troop transport.)

My suggestion is:

Aircraft+Reserve AC/Seaplane Support

Mizuho 24+8/SS 24
Chitose 24+6/SS 21
Nisshin 12+3/SS 18
Kamikawa Maru 12+6/SS 21

Note that Seaplane Support is mainly fueling, spare parts and maintenance and is separate from the Aircraft Capacity but in the abstraction they can overlap.

Kōji Sakai would be a good option for the IJA mechanized faction commanders.
