Ep 0 Series Announcement and Overview of the 1866 Whirlwind of Flames (Austro-Prussian War or Seven Weeks War) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOxeyKNuvOo&t=18s

Hi. We decided this was so fun and epic that we are going to do a mirror match. 1st series will be me playing Austria, Bavaria, and a host of German Minor Powers vs Unfortunate Son playing Prussia, Italy, and a few German Minor Powers.
Cheers.
Mike

This series goes up daily. Starts slow as we close with each other and both sides keep mobilizing new forces.
Then it gets crazy intense.

Small unit count on a giant map results in manuever warfare with cavalry trying to pierce through the fog of war to see the enemy. The limited cavalry is a must to spot the enemy as the surprise 'ambush' mechanic is brutal.
Combined army with Infantry, cavalry and artillery will be a must to succeed in the big battles.

After this match is over, Unfortunate Son and I change sides and go for it again.

The mirror match continues with OldCrowBalthazor playing Prussia and Italy vs Unfortunate Son playing Austria, Bavaria and the German Federal States.
trategic Command 1866 '1866 Austro-Prussian War' Ep 1, Jun 16, 1866 "Prussia invades Saxony and Hanover. Austria issues a war manifesto"

In this Strategic Command 1866 scenario, Prussia has clear military and strategic objectives aimed at unifying the German states while managing significant risks to their fighting spirit.

Prussian Objectives:

Military Campaign: The primary goal is to crush Austria's spirit by deploying forces in an intitial pincer movement and eventual combining of forces.
This involves the Elbe Army marching into Saxony, the First Army securing the Iser Valley, and the Second Army (available next turn) invading Bohemia from the east.
Western Front: The West Army is tasked with capturing Hanover and Kassel to force the surrender of local forces and secure Frankfurt and fortresses along the Main River.

Italian Coordination: Italy will join the war on the fifth turn, focusing on liberating territories in Venetia to further weaken Austria.

Dangers and Risks:
Fighting Spirit Crisis: A major threat is the potential collapse of Prussian fighting spirit. To avoid this, the player must capture Königgrätz, Prague, or Frankfurt by July 16, 1866.
Strategic Vulnerability: Leaving towns or rear areas undefended could allow Austrian cavalry to slip behind Prussian lines, causing supply issues and threatening morale.
Logistical Challenges: Managing rail movement is expensive and critical; failing to secure key rail lines or moving units inefficiently can lead to them becoming trapped or out of supply.
