HOW WEHRMACHT DID LOGISTICS
Turn off all units on map and look at double (if possible) RR lines to the four key objectives: Leningrad, Moscow, Rostov, and Stalingrad.
--- Koenigsberg-Vilnius-Pskov-Leningrad
--- Koenigsberg-Vilnius-Pskov-Leningrad-Novgorod-Chudovo-Leningrad
--- Warsaw-Brest Litovsk/Semyatichi-Minsk-Orsha-Smolensk-Vyazma-Borodino-Kubinka-Moscow
--- Koenigsberg-Riga-Velikie Luki-(Rzhev)-Moscow
--- Krakow-Lvov-Tarnopol-Proskurov-Vinnitsa-Kiev-Dnepropetrovsk-Stalino-Rostov-Chir Station-Stalingrad
5 lines but needed 7 RR units: 2 in northern sector, 2 in central sector, and 3 in southern sector. Wehrmacht for some reason was only able to obtain 1/2/1, respectfully, since Moscow was to be taken 9/22/1941 (one day after Feast Day of St. Matthew, tax collector!).
All these double RR line references must be repaired ASAP, and then secondary lines as needed by using the same RR repair units! Also, it would have helped to have more than the actual number of RR-repair battalions used.
Finally, all the above means the war can't be won in Baku! The war must be won encircling Moscow in a 1942 Campaign, and possibly Leningrad. The Red Army must stand and fight there. Leningrad should be completely besieged in 1941, and taken either in 1941 or in 1942. It is recommended that the northern sector panzers head towards Moscow in early 1942 and all three panzer armies concentrate for the operation (after the world's greatest blizzard). This should not be started earlier, like in October 1941! Leningrad will obviously need a lot more infantry to take the panzer's place.

End of German Turn 8: August 10, 1941
Replaced 2 Wehrmacht infantry generals. Tallinn was isolated. Attack towards Gdov/Plyussa/Novgorod begins.
Attacks to clear double RR north of Dvina River. 4 hexes away from Smolensk. Slow going through Pripyat Marshes.
Clear Kiev suburbs and 2 forts destroyed inside city; city still held. Odessa falls after a massive attack.

OK in answer to this post there are a number of things I would like to point out and suggest, firstly if reach and encircle Moscow before the end of 1941 its game over the rail line wont matter all that much.
But for augments sake lets assume it wont happen so lets look at the rail situation you feel the Axis does not have enough Rail Repair units well there could be a good claim of being right however lets look at few things I assume your aware that The Baltic states rail system is compatible to Germany's so if you can clear the Soviets out of there without causing to much damage you have a really good chance of only having a small number of rail hexes to repair its impossible not damage rail hexes there but its much better than in Russia proper.
You are aware of RAD units these are smaller units you can attach to Armies and Corps, these are different than the FBD Units these smaller units can be of great service to speeding up your rail repair I wrote about them in a previous post to you.
While your sending the main FBD unit along a double track rail to fix you attach the RAD's to advancing armies or Korps I prefer to send them to Korps
The picture shows RADS K 83 and K 15 as well as FBD 4
As you can see from this screenshot two RAD units are attached to 18th Armee actually they were attached to probably either XXXVIII ArmeeKorps or L ArmeeKorps did there weeks work and went back to the superior HQ now for the next turn I will either reattach them to the same Korps or others to keep the momentum going, you could leave them at the Armee HQ but they might end up starting to repair rail networks in the Kurland region, you need them behind your advancing troops, there is probably a way to lock them to the Korps without having to keep attaching but I might move them to a different Armee's Korps.
Using this to support your main FBD units works wonders I learnt this from others on the forum here.
There is about 7 RADS so I will have 2 in the north, 3 in the centre and 2 in the south, how you attach them is up to you.
Also there is a Rumanian FBD, I send to repair the rail line from Isai to Odessa from there its your choice where to repair next however the Rum unit leaves in 41 so I try to repair as much rail from Odessa to Vinnitsa. Also even though the RUM FBD leaves you will get sometime down the track 4 RUM RADS you can attach to Korps.
You also get FBD 5 in 1942 so there is plenty of rail repair units of course it would be nice to have more, but the truth is you will never repair every occupied rail line.
Another thing you will have to consider repairing the rail line from Mogilev to Orel to me its a must if your playing a sudden death match as Orel has city points.
All these tricks I picked up from far better players here and I am still learning new stuff all the time.
On a totally unrelated but still important game point don't use your Panzer Replacement Battalions during the first winter, wait till its over and don't attach them to your Panzer's, attach them to Pz Gren Div's or Infantry units ( short term ) if you attach them to Panzer Div they get absorbed into the Div where as with Pz Gren they stay a SU unit.

Like TM said, you can't repair every line in USSR at the same time before 42, as with everything Axis in this game it's a matter of prioritizing limited resources. In my experience the most important lines to repair are the following double rails: Pskov-Leningrad, Brest-Livotsk-Minsk, Lvov-Proskurov-Vinnitsa and the also the Iasi-Kishinev-Odessa rail. After that (depending on your goals and priorities) you can go Minsk-Smolensk-Vyazma or Minsk-Gomel-Bryansk-Orel.ReginaldBednar2 wrote: Thu Oct 22, 2026 9:09 pm HOW WEHRMACHT DID LOGISTICS

RR line repair strategies vary; don't forget about partisans cutting single line approaches as well! The key is to take cities as quick as possible with repaired RR lines, then immediately setting up a depot in each one. Otherwise, your units just fade away in movement capability and combat strength. Also, Russian airborne brigades can cut RR lines by landing near or on top of them. Also, the Russian player may know this as well, so maintaining surprise is essential. In my opinion, the southern sector is the real logistics nightmare with 1 fast and 1 slow RR repair units.

Encircling Moscow is about as easy as encircling Washington D.C.!
PLEASE SEND ME A NEW MESSAGE WITHOUT PICTURES: THE COPY MESSAGES WITH QUOTES DIDN'T WORK WITH YOUR QUESTIONS (HUNG).

Hi
Ok this is a repeat of that message without my screenshot or quotes I think this is what you want, though without the screen shot showing the RAD units it makes it hard to explain but if you have your game open you will see the RAD units attached to either OKH or Army Groups which should help.
